Class warfare...or math? Does one plus one equal three?

“This is not class warfare….this is math.”
                                              Obama, 9/19/2011

I like the way Obama has basically stated that his new tax plan is one or other of these possibilities. By inference, if it is not math, it must be class warfare, right?

Math is a funny thing. In purely the mathematic science, math is pure…you have rules and the answer to any question will always be the same no matter how often the question is asked.

One plus one will always equal two, right?

That is correct, unless you are an accountant…in which case one plus one is whatever you want it to be.

For non-accounting types, this hard to imagine, but the best accountants in the world can manipulate numbers to be whatever they want them to be. This is because while the rules of mathematics never change, the definitions of the number change when talking with an accountant. A good accountant can argue that the cost of panting a building is a capital item and belongs on the balance sheet, and not an expense effecting profit.

There are hundreds of examples of this, and this is one of the reasons that Warren Buffet pays low taxes. His team of accountants is able to manipulate the numbers to mean whatever they want them to mean.  (Now, the fact that Buffet is guilty about this and claims should pay more taxes is totally up to him. He can simply choose to tell his accountants to increase his tax bill, and it will be done!)

Let’s talk economics for a moment.

The truth about the accounting profession and it’s manipulation of numbers is tenfold worse in the world of the economist. The economist purposely uses weird phrases (“jobs saved or created” is just the latest of the weird immeasurable metrics that economists have started using), in an attempt to make the math behind economics invisible to the normal non-economist. The truth is that economics is not difficult; it is just camouflaged well by economists and politicians who have a vested interest in keeping the truth hidden.

So we have accountants and economists distorting the math behind raising taxes on the rich. So what is Obama talking about when he speaks of it being” not class warfare….but math”?

It’s time to look at the math.

I like to keep things really simple if I can…so let’s keep this simple.

If the government taxed everybody at zero percent…how much revenue would the government receive?

Correct! Zero.  Simple math.

Now, if the government taxed everybody at 100%, how much revenue would the government receive?

Don’t know? I will tell you. Zero!

If everything you eared were taken by the government in the form of taxation, there is no inducement to work, so you and all your friends would simply stop working, right? When that happens, the government gets nothing.

This creates an interesting issue for the government. We know that a tax rate of zero produces zero revenue and that a tax rate of 100% produces zero revenue. Somewhere between those two extremes, the government can generate revenue. The question? Where is the optimum rate that allows for optimum revenue?

Every individual will have a point at which the next tax increase will be a de-motivator. Most people feel that 10% is a fair number….some believe 20% is ok, and some may think 45% is fine. However, EVERY time the tax rates increase, SOME people will say it is no longer worth work 16 hour days because the government just takes more. They will stop working as hard, or stop working completely.

In any event, economic activity REDUCES with every increase in taxation. THAT is the real math!

Obama will argue that an increase in taxation on the rich, so that they “pay their fair share” will not damage the economy because they can afford it anyway, and the money is just sitting in the bank doing nothing.

So, he has a right to just steal it and use it to do what?

He has several choices:-
-         he can use the money to create jobs like shovel ready construction jobs
-         he can pay down government debt
-         he can take the money out of circulation

Let’s look at each of these.

Using the money to create jobs.

Shovel ready infrastructure jobs sounds like a great idea to stimulate the economy, and get people back to work. The problem is that these jobs are being paid for with funds that have been taken out of the economy in the first place, so there is no net gain in economic activity. (See my blog yesterday for a detailed analysis of government jobs). Even though the jobs are possibly created by private firms, they are funded by government activity not economic activity. End result of taxes raised to pay for shovel ready projects? A net reduction in economic growth. The tax increase lead to some people stopping their own economic activity, slowing down the economy. The government paid building of infrastructure simply redirects the economic activity that existed prior to the tax increase.

The final result is an economic slow down.

Pay down government debt.

On the face of it, this looks like a good option (and I am certainly in favor of paying down debt). The problem here is that the debt is not being paid down through increased economic activity, but through a process that has already slowed down economic activity. IN fact this option sis very bad because the tax taken has not been redirected into new economic activity to offset the reduction from the tax in the first place.

This option effectively slows down the economy.

Take the money out of circulation.

What do I mean by this? I mean, simply burn it. Do not use it, do not spend it…burn it. The reason to do this is to reduce the inflationary impact of inflation created by printing money. This option will increase the value of dollars in existence and therefore increase the purchasing power of those dollars. The net effect on economic activity is zero since the taxpayer has fewer dollars after the tax increase but those dollars buy more.

Can you imagine the outrage if a government should do this?

No politician would EVER say they were doing this. Just not going to happen.

There are no other options!!

Creating more entitlement programs, extending unemployment benefits, buying property…it doesn’t matter what it is, everything the government can do with increased taxes eventually falls into the three categories above.

THAT math never changes.

Now, I know some of you are saying that the wealthy don’t need to have millions of dollars in the bank (or even billons) and that this wealth would be better used paying down the debt. Really?

Let’s look at what happens with the “excess wealth” of the millionaires and billionaires….

-         they use it to invest in companies and businesses that they expect to one day be successful
-         the banks holding the dollars lend them to people to buy houses, cars, boats and TV’s
-         the banks holding the funds lend the money to businesses to grow their business
-         etc, etc

All of this results in economic activity.

You see, it does not have to be the rich person using the funds, it can be the banks where his money is kept that can use the funds. Unless he keeps his money under his mattress, he is directly or indirectly financing economic activity….growth!

Tax him more, and he has fewer funds, or his bank has fewer funds, available for economic activity. The economy is starved of capital and slows down.

So, Mr. Obama…your simple statement that a tax on the rich is not class warfare, t is math, leaves me with few choices when drawing conclusions.

There is no doubt that you failed math, even at a remedial level, if you do not understand the simple truths written above. If that be the case, then you must have surrounded yourself with advisors who also failed remedial math…if they did not prevent you from making that outlandish statement.

And here, sir, is where your credibility gap has grown even wider…

By your own statement, if it is not math….it must be class warfare.

We all knew this guy was stupid, incompetent and a narcissistic fool….but I never expected him to openly state that he was indulging in class warfare…and that is what he effectively did yesterday.

Higher taxes on the rich is not good math…it IS class warfare.

The Obama smear.

Let me get this straight….

The boy who would be king….but only managed to get as far as President…and who still believes he is at the very least royalty and in most things a minor God moving rapidly toward becoming a major God …is now suddenly concerned about the smears that his opponents may be planning?

I kid you not.

This man, who is a legend in his own imagination, is scared that his opponents may be telling lies about him, and in doing so could effect his re-election chances?

OMG. My sides hurt from laughing so much.

The Obama election campaign has announced a new website called “Attack Watch” which is designed to counteract any lies or smear campaigns against the President.

It works very simply. When you go to the site and sign-up (of course you must provide your email address so that the campaign can fill your email box with all manner of campaign materials) and then, when a smear is located, they tell you the other side of the story as presented by the Obama people.

Call me skeptical…but I find it hard to accept that the “other side of the story” as provided by Obama people is going to be a truthful or thoughtful discussion of the issues. I just know that there is not going too be any bias, right? And when they provide news articles that support the Presidents position, they will come from multiple sources with both left and right bias, right?

Now…this whole escapade gets even funnier when you consider that Attack Watch is actually trying to recruit normal folk to go out and search the web and news stories etc trying to find instances of smears or attacks against the President. They are to report these instances to Attack Watch who will then prepare defenses against those attacks and tell people how to argue against them.

(I don’t think that the news outlets or web sites that attack Obama would ever appear on a list of anti Obama folk…a list provided to the White House who will scrutinize it for any inkling of racism, or terrorism or barbarianism, right? I don’t expect any of the claims of the scouts would be used to deploy the thugs of Holder’s DOJ or the union soldiers of Trumka to apply pressure and blackball the antagonists…wouldn’t happen, would it. Not in this most transparent of all administrations!)

I can save this new site a whole lot of time and trouble….

You don’t need scouts to find out that I intend to fight the re-election of Obama on every level I can….including proclaiming the truth about him and his policies at every opportunity….so take down my url…(it is the address in your browser above, moron)..and go do your digging and dirt-bagging. I don’t care.

So let me start with this gem.

There are not enough lies available in the combined intellects of the entire liberal policies to change the fact that this President is one giant SMEAR on this country.

He started lying before he gained office…just to help your dim memories, his first lie happened on the day he announced he was intending to run for President when he stated clearly that he would use public funds for his campaign. Oh how that changed when he discovered he could raise far more form private contributions. First lie just minutes into his campaign…and he hasn’t stopped lying since.

The smear he leaves everywhere he goes stinks of deceit, thuggery, bully boy tactics, and self aggrandizement. His only achievement of any value was getting Bin Laden, and there is some significant doubt that he even issued that order (some evidence suggests that Leon Panetta was so disgusted with this fool’s dithering that he ordered the action himself….of course, because it was successful Obama claims the credit. If the truth is known, this coward was probably in the bathroom changing his soiled pants when he should have been issuing orders!)

If you want smears, Attack Watch, you need go no further than the many posts I have written.

Do you want to talk about birthers and phony birth certificates? Let’s take a look. I don’t know where this fool you want to re-elect was born. I don’t know if he released true birth certificates etc. I DO know that anyone who spends so much money covering up his past has something to hide. What is that something? I don’t know. But when faced with an opportunity to put all the birther stuff to rest, this fool chose to allow it to simmer and gain strength. Why? What does he have to hide? Is that a smear? Or is it a valid question? The media clearly does not think it a valid question, but then they have been kissing his ass since day one…so that is no surprise!

How about the much vaunted Obamacare crap? How many lies did Obama try to sell when pushing that nonsense through? Speech after speech after speech filled with the same old lies and rhetoric. Pelosi and Reid were cohorts in forcing the most dangerous and costly bill in years down the throats of people who don’t want it. And it is unconstitutional. But we know Obama does not care about the Constitution…after all it is does not state what the government should do, it is not a complete document.

Is that a smear, Attack Now?

What about this latest effort at a jobs bill? What about his continued attempts to create class warfare, what about his statements about the millionaires and billionaires?

This fool and the policies he espouses have only one avenue if successful. The bankruptcy of this country, the utter destruction of the middle classes and the collapse of the Union. There is NO other outcome.

So…given this FACT…what can we say about the Ditherer-in-Chief? There are actually a number of options:-

1. He is ignorant of the final outcome of his policies. He simply does not know that they will destroy this Republic.

In this case, America elected a total tool to the most important office in the land. A tool whose education is seriously lacking. A tool who claims loudly that he is not an ideologue and yet is highly critical of those who suggest alternate policy direction. A tool who knows no way of discussing the pro’s and con’s of his policies and must create urgency in an attempt to force his policies through. A tool who is not afraid to use Executive Orders to mandate policy even when Congress has refused it. A tool who could not even appoint advisors who understood the areas he did not understand. A tool who doesn’t care what the outcome is, just that the dreams from his father are fulfilled.

2. He doesn’t care about the outcome.

It is really tough being President. You have all those meetings with heads of state all around the world. You have to deal with the protection details assigned to you. You have to fit in all those White House concerts to keep the wife and kids happy. You have to somehow encourage the wife to do something meaningful while she is there. You have to find time for your advisors to explain the latest focus groups results…”No, no, no Mr. President…we don’t say spending any more, it is investing…we don’t say tax increases, it is revenue enhancement, we don’t so take more, we say pay fair share…got it? We are going to do this all day until you get it right!!”

With all this going on, how can he possibly find time to care about what his policies are doing? He has a staff who will look after that for him…and besides, he has golf to play, hoops to throw and games to watch….who has time to care about results?

And anyway, if he thought too much about that, he would get depressed and as he says, nobody wants a depressed president.

Nope. No need to think about results….but…when does that next campaign tour start? That is ONE result he DOES think about!

Sounds like America elected a real winner this time around!

3. He knows, he cares, but he just can’t change it.

In this scenario,  he knows what he is doing, and he cares about the results. He just can’t (or doesn’t want to) change it.

This option leaves many questions, all of which come back to one basic BIG question….why?

It could be that the boy who would be king sees a way to the Kingdom through the destruction of the Republic. In this respect he is 100% right. The path to success and the fruition of the dreams of daddy is through the destruction of America and it’s rebuilding in daddy’s eyes.

Traitorous? Absolutely.

Treasonous? You bet!

Possible? Only if good men do nothing can evil prosper.

There are many good men and women fighting this evil…and it will not end well for Obama. The only question that remains is WHEN it will end and what it will take to get this usurper out of the office that he wishes was a monarchy or dictatorship.

Will it be at the next election? Or will the Office of Misrepresentation and Lies, otherwise known as the White House, and its lackeys, Attack Watch, ably supported by a cast of Soros funded media types have enough lies to counteract the truth?

Can the Obama clown posse incite the Obama voters to leave their crack pipes, and bongs, get off their government assisted asses and go to polling booths where they will receive free lunch if the vote for the current guy?

Can the unions find enough buses to get voters to the polls with the promise of a free ride?

Will the dead come out in droves as they did in 2008, or will they, in disgust simply roll over in their graves?

Will Mickey and Bugs have another Election Day party, complete with poker machines where every push of the button comes up Obama?

If these things can happen, then Obama can win.

If good men and women proclaim the truth, stand up to the bullies without fear and encourage and help all like minded voters to stand up and be counted, the smear of Obama will become nothing more than a bad memory…a bad memory that has created so much damage that it will take years to repair and forget.

So, Attack Watch, are you going to come after me?

Are you going to claim my smears and statements and opinions are lies?

Go for it…because nobody cares what you say or think. You are nothing but another bully that thinks intimidation works now as it has in the past.

It won’t.

Stupid is as stupid says.

A statesman and a poseur.

I was watching some of the coverage of the 9/11 memorials yesterday and saw something that really spoke volumes to me about why America is in the state she is in today.

Before I get to that I want to think for a bit about what happened on 9/11 ten years ago, and how our country has changed since then.

Ten years ago, yesterday, a group of 19 Muslim terrorists hijacked 4 planes using box cutters and knives as weapons, and flew three of those planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania when the passengers attempted to retake control of the plane.

We all know the stories of heroism, of horror and of loss of life. We all understand that nearly 3,000 people died that day for no other reason than they were peacefully going about their daily business.

We have remembered the horror and tragedy of this day in America’s history for ten years…and yet, the horror remains.

On that day ten years ago, America awoke to the realities of the real world. No longer could she and her people believe they were insulated from the evils of this world. No longer could we live our lives blissfully ignorant of the fact that people out there hate us….that people within our own borders hate us….that people all around us could be the next ones to go Muslim extremists on us and cut our throats for being infidels.

Do they hate us?

I don’t think so….they certainly don’t know us well enough to harbor that type of emotion. I believe what they hate is what we stand for. We stand for a loving God, a God who wants us to be the best we can be. We stand for freedom and individual rights. We stand for progress and education.

They stand for a jealous God who is a figment of a mad man’s imagination, a God for whom all manner of atrocities are but a means to an end. That end being the total annihilation of everybody who refuses to believe in that fake God. They stand for a culture unable to break out of the Stone Age. They stand for enslavement to a set of moral rules that deny humanity. They stand for the enslavement of women and the abuse of children.

It is no wonder they hate what we desire, what we strive for.

Since that day when the ache of loss was heavy in our hearts, we have been called to a new sort of patriotism. A patriotism that puffs out its chest and says America cannot be broken. A patriotism that is visible mostly in the brave men and women who are willing to give their lives for this country.

But what of the rest of us?

What have we really learned?

We have allowed the fear of terrorism to change the way we go about our daily lives. Rather than protect our borders we allow them to remain a free route into the country, while we stand in line to be groped by the TSA before flying.

We have allowed our country to be reliant on oil from those countries that despise us, while our own oil reserves remain in the ground for fear of endangering some rare species of frog, or tortoise or moth or bug.

We have allowed our unions to increase the benefits paid to its members to such an extent that it has continued to drive jobs overseas to lower cost countries.

We have allowed our politicians to cater to the demands of the left and move this country inexorably toward the oblivion that socialism creates.

We have become so concerned with not offending anyone, even our enemies that we refuse to call terrorists what they are, but rather call those that would see the return of constitutionally driven government terrorists.

WE printed money to devalue the greenback. We have borrowed from other countries to provide benefits to those that are too lazy to support themselves.

We have given credence to a jobs program that includes in its number an extension of unemployment benefits!

What do these things have to do with the 9/11 aftermath, you may ask?

Well…these things have all continued since 9/11. They have not changed. The very things that weakened America and made her vulnerable to the attacks of 9/11 continue to this day.

I go back to my earlier question? What about the rest of us?

There is no doubt that our armed forces have remained brave and staunchly defending the United States, ready for whatever comes.

I wish I could say the ordinary man and woman in the street can say the same. Unfortunately, we have become a nation of cowards, afraid to raise our hands and say…WE…are the Americans you should fear….WE will not sit by and watch you destroy this great country.

It is so easy to say that when talking about a faceless enemy far from our shore….an enemy that our soldiers will deal with. It is easy to say that when the fervor of patriotism demands it in the hours and days following an event like 9/11. It is easy to shout words and salute the flag.

And then go about our daily business the next day with nary a thought about the evils of this world.

So yeaterday, as I watched some of the coverage on TV, I saw something that astounded me.

I saw George and Laura Bush walking with Barack and Michelle Obama. They were by the new memorial at the place where the twin towers once stood.

The Bush’s walked demurely, their faces showing the pain they felt on that day. The Obama’s were hand-in-hand, almost skipping as they would on a walk in the park on a nice spring day, their faces showing no sign of the magnitude of the moment.

As all four reached the wall with the inscribed names of the victims, George Bush hung his head in a solemn and dignified quiet moment. In counterpoint, Barack Obama glanced down for a second, then quickly looked to his left, then to his right, his eyes scanning, seeking searching….finally finding the camera, he bowed his head for a short second before looking up and checking that the camera had not relocated.

Meanwhile, George Bush stood silently contemplating what was. His body language was such that it ignored the cameras, ignored the farce going on beside him, and his face showed the pain he shared with the mourners gathered there.

One a statesman, the other a poseur.

That is what is wrong with America today.

I do not think Bush did everything right, but I think he did a good job for most of his Presidency. Just a few months into his first term and he became a war time President. He worked with the hand he was dealt. Did he make mistakes? Of course he did!

ON the other hand Obama is into his 32nd month and still blames his predecessor for the state of the Union.

One is a statesman. The other a poseur.

So, when the poseur-in-chief acts this way, is it any wonder that liberals think the way Paul Krugman of the New York Times thinks when he writes…

“Is it just me, or are the 9/11 commemorations oddly subdued?

Actually, I don’t think it’s me, and it’s not really that odd.

What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons.

A lot of other people behaved badly. How many of our professional pundits — people who should have understood very well what was happening — took the easy way out, turning a blind eye to the corruption and lending their support to the hijacking of the atrocity?

The memory of 9/11 has been irrevocably poisoned; it has become an occasion for shame. And in its heart, the nation knows it.

I’m not going to allow comments on this post, for obvious reasons.”

Mr. Krugman, the only people acting badly ten years on are you and your like minded idiot leftist cowards.

You may not accept comments “for the obvious reasons”…but that is simply a signature of cowards such as yourself.

But you are n good company, sir. Your President also clearly feels that the events of 9/11 are of no value except for providing an opportunity to seek and find the TV camera’s.

I noticed Obama wore a lapel pin of the US flag yesterday.

I would have been happier had he refused to wear it instead of being the hypocritical coward he is showing the world.

With a leader like him, is it any wonder that we spend endless days and nights preparing for the next attack?

Do you feel safer with this idiot at the helm?

Find your voice....today!

I guess a day or two is a long time in politics!!

Business commitments prevented me from catching the Republican presidential candidates debate on Wednesday night and also prevented me from catching Obama’s speech to Congress yesterday.

So here I am writing this blog with no real ammunition in my hands…just second hand opinions from talking heads pushing their own agendas by cherry picking what they want to discuss and repeating the same tired crap they heard from other talking heads.

I don’t want to fall into that particularly sticky fly-trap…so, apart from a couple of cursory comments below, will leave the excitement of this week to those who claim to have actually seen the debates and speech.

I will say a couple of things though.

1. Polls indicate that Perry won the debate…or was it Romney? Maybe another poll suggests that Paul won. Or maybe it was Cain? Santorum and Bachman seem to have dropped behind a little since Perry announced…or maybe they are leading the pack?

Huntsman? Who?

Gingritch, it is all agreed, won the debate on technical merits…or maybe he lost?

I want to ask a really dumb question.

How can someone “win” or “lose” these debates? Such a measure should be based on scores, with right and wrong answers…the person with the best score wins.

But in an event where some people answer more questions than others, there are no right or wrong answers (just answers that do or do not confirm the individual beliefs of the listener) and the questions are framed by people with their own agenda…how does one determine who wins?

In it I suggested that the candidates must create a moment.

Well, clearly the only moment that these candidates are creating is whether they won or lost.

If they had created a REAL moment…it would have been splashed all over the media by now…and it is not…as I said before….yawn!!

The debates should not be about winning or losing. They should be about presenting the candidates to the public, and allowing the candidates to express their beliefs, their desires for this country and their plans and their execution strategies.

I want to see a debate where there is not a single question asked.

Each candidate gets three minutes to state their case. A
When the buzzer goes off, the sound gets cut. After each candidate has had their three minutes, they get 1 more minute to counteract a statement made by another candidate ONLY if their name has been mentioned. Otherwise, 3 minutes is the sum total of their allotment.

I wonder which of the current candidates can make their case in just 3 minutes?

I can do it in 6 words…can they?

Smaller government, lower taxes, national security

It’s time.

Talking about yawns brings me to the second thing I wanted to mention…

2. From all accounts the speech to Congress was just more of the same with Obama upping the ante to get Congress to act.

The same old crap, the same old infrastructure stuff, the same old extensions to unemployment yadda yadda yadda…

I was going to suggest yesterday that anyone watching this speech could have been well served by creating a drinking game out of it. Every time he said infrastructure or middle class, take a swig. It may have made the time wasted more enjoyable! Maybe I should have made that suggestion?

Anyway, this morning I hear the goon making a speech somewhere in Virginia…..in the two minutes I heard he referred to:-
-         his speech to Congress
-         his bipartisan plan that democrats and republicans had both done before
-         his statement that the “bill” can be passed next week
-         BS, BS BS

My simple comment about this is that this guy is nothing more than a bully and a thug. He took a vacation, he waited 31 months into his presidency before doing something about jobs (apart from making speeches, that is) and he has not yet explained how this plan will be paid for (but he assures us it IS paid for – we believe him, right?)…and now he wants Congress to rush it through the House and Senate in a week?

Either he is insane (which I doubt – he is a buffoon but a sane buffoon) or he is setting up the very political gamesmanship that he accuses Congress of playing. He knows that the House will not pass this Bill without a close study of the fine print (can anyone say Obamacare) and he knows they will most likely not pass it.

He intends to use this to further advance the belief that it is the Republicans and mostly the intransigent tea party who are playing politics with your jobs.

Do not be fooled. The only job this guy cares about is his own!

Enough of him…he is so irrelevant!

On another matter….

I have been outspoken on several occasions about the need for us conservatives to find our voices. That we all need to share our opinions, and our thoughts with confidence and strength as I believe this is the only way to counteract the thugs and bullies on the left.

I want to help you do that. Here’s what I would like…

Anyone who actually watched either the debate or the Presidents speech is invited to write to me with their opinions, thoughts, ideas, reactions etc. (You can email me at devereauxdailydose@gmail.com )

I am going to include a selection of these emails in their exact forms in an upcoming post. I will not include email addresses or any identifying information, so I encourage you to be as candid and non-politically correct as you can be.

If you have views opposing mine that is fine…I am an equal opportunity destroyer of liberal stupidity, so your comments will also be included.

Do not worry about how you write, or how your grammar is….I don’t care about that…you all know that my typing sucks and I make plenty of mistakes. The important thing is that you start to express your opinions…

Finding your voice is one of the most empowering things you can do. Who knows, maybe this could help you become the next great blogger?

If you want to try your hand at expressing yourself, this is a good venue.

Do you want to make a difference? Here’s a small way to start.

IF you just want to write about a personal experience, and not about the debate or speech that is fine…I just ask that you be truthful, always. It must be YOUR experience, not someone else’s, ok? I have no way of checking this, so you are on your honor.

I look forward to reading some interesting mail…and to putting your voices out there, in your words.

And finally, Sunday marks the tenth anniversary of the attacks of 9/11. This is a time of great sorrow for the families of those who lost their lives on that day. It is a time when we should remember and honor the feats of the first responders who rushed into those buildings without a moment’s hesitation. We should remember the spirit and bravery of those people…that is what has made America great.

We must also remember that it was Islamic terrorists who flew those planes into the buildings in a cowardly and clear act of war. That war has only just begun and we must always remain vigilant and wary. We know who the enemy is…we must never become complacent because the enemy will never stop.

To those who lost loved ones on that day, I give you this solemn promise. I will not forget the horrors of that day. I will not forget who did it. I will not forget who they are or what they are.

My town is planning a memorial for the victims of 9/11 on Saturday evening and on Sunday morning. I will be at both. We are thousands of miles from the site, and our pain is but a fraction of the pain some experienced, but we join together in true solidarity and love with people all over this country..

If your city is holding a memorial, I encourage you all to attend and be a part. It is only by becoming a part of something that you truly appreciate its meaning.

The time to be on the sidelines is over. Plug in, get involved, find your voice.

Pelosi's twisted knickers!

Question: How do you get Pelosi’s knickers in a twist?
Answer: By saying nothing.

Pelosi is fit to be tied today…and the reason is simple.

The GOP have decided that they are not going to make a formal rebuttal of Obama’s jobs speech on Thursday night.

Pelosi thinks this is disrespectful to the President and the American people.

What a hoot she is these days…. J

Here’s the thing.

When we talk about the left, including the Obama Administration, we have to understand that they are a one-way street.

Respect must be given the President even though he shows nothing but disdain and disrespect to his political opponents using words such as intransigents, obstructionists etc to describe people who disagree with his policies.

His lead has devolved into a time of exceptionally heated rhetoric from the left…

Trumka implying that the Tea Party has to be taken out, that the there is a war, and the unions are the soldiers. Interesting how he did as Obama requested and dialed back the rhetoric so we can have civil discourse.

And then we have Biden, calling the Tea Party terrorists, and barbarians at the gates.

And Waters saying the tea party can go straight to hell.

Of course, Pelosi has her own ideas about millionaires and billionaires.

There is no doubt that the civility in the rhetoric from both sides has been abhorrent.

As was pointed out yesterday by Bob Beckel…some conservatives have had the gall to call Obama a socialist!! That is way up there with terrorist and barbarian as far as name-calling goes. It seems to be irrelevant if it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably IS a duck. Of course Beckel would never consider that…so the claims of Obama being a socialist are just terrible.

And of course, there is Alan Colmes who also made a fool of himself yesterday when he tried to equate Joe Wilson’s “You lie” to the clams that tea party members are terrorists.

The talking heads on both sides of this argument seem to miss a very valuable point.

Free speech is protected by the constitution. So if someone wants to call me a perverted child molester, they have that right. I of course can sue for slander, which is MY right.

If someone want to call the tea party terrorists and barbarians, that is their right. Most educated people are not fooled by the rhetoric and take no notice anyway.

As far as I am concerned, the rhetoric can heat up as much as they want. The left ca use any mean spirited words they want to portray the right. The truth is that the reflection is on them not on their opponents. The greater the number of empty insults in an attempt to portray the evil of the tea party, the less effective they will become. Of course, there will always be that group of mindless sycophants who believe every word that the media sound bites produce (their education prevents them from thinking for themselves or even doing some basic research), but the vast majority will eventually tire of the name calling and not be influenced by it.

Even though it appears that the left is winning the “paint your opponents as evil” game today, I wonder if they have shot their load too early…after all, what can they ratchet up from after terrorist and barbarian? Child murderers? Rapists? Yeah…we all believe that crap!

Anyway, back to Nancy and her twisted knickers.

I have to say Boehner surprised me when he said no to Obama’s request for a joint congress tonight. He showed that he was not going to validate the Presidents desire to do yet another campaign speech under the thin veil of a jobs speech without having to accommodate the Congress. The message was loud and clear…you can do what you want but you can not dictate the terms.

I don’t know who won that poltical tom foolery and I don’t really care. What I care about is that a message was sent…Congress is not your slave Obama…so you need to think twice before making demands on it.

That message was well sent.

And now the GOP are not going to respond formally to this speech.

Once again, the GOP are sending a very strong message.

They are saying, we know this is a campaign speech thinly disguised as a jobs speech, and we have acquiesced to your request to do it in front of Congress even though it would have been far more apropro to have delivered it from the White House.

However, we are under no obligation to comment on what you say. In other words, President Dude…you are irrelevant!

What a wonderful message. Clear. Concise.

Above all…TRUE.

There is also talk of some GOP members not bothering to attend. They are also sending a clear message that they don’t want to hear another speech.

Empty words from an empty suit telling us all how the government is going to create jobs….why would ANYONE even bother to attend?

And therein lays President Idiot’s problem.

He has no credibility. He has no leadership skills. He has no ability to ignite any passion. He is probably not even a good community organizer any more (whatever the hell was when he was doing it.)

Some say he is a good orator. Well, I would pay to hear Reagan, or Churchill, or even Thatcher. The Kennedy boys had some skills with oration (except for Teddy who was too often reliving his Chappaquidick high points to learn how to ignite a crowd with his speeches).

And then we have Obama…who pauses every second word….who has so many “umms” and “ahhhs” that his words become lost in the background. A great orator? Nope! This guy pauses every two words because he is trying to remember what the focus groups said about what words he should use and which ones to avoid. He is working out what way to best spin his next lie.

He has a mind like a steel trap. Every thought gets trapped their and has no way of  escape!

If this is the best orator that the left can find, then the conservative movement has nothing to fear.

However, he does have a skill that conservatives should fear. The ability to lie consistently. He does not care if he is caught in a lie. He does not care about consistency. He cares only about how many people he can fool and how that can result in his re-election.

A person so capable of lying without remorse or apology is pathological and he has it in spades!

So, the GOP is right in not formally responding to the nonsense that will be delivered on Thursday. I am sure there will be plenty of comments from them informally….but I wish that the whole event could be just totally ignored.

Let’s make this doofus who sits in the White House completely and totally irrelevant…and laugh as he continues to fume and curse the American people for seeing straight through this charade that he has played for 3 years.

It’s time!

It's about jobs, stupid!

In a couple of days our Liar-in-Chief will stand before a joint Congress and deliver his much anticipated speech about job creation.

I am not entirely sure but I think this will make 11 speeches about jobs and his plan for job creation in the past year or so.

My guess is that this one is so anticipated because it will include all manner of different thinking….after all, as Carney said yesterday….”there are some things the President can do WITHOUT Congress (and he will)…and other things he will need Congressional action on, hence he must give this speech before Congress”

On a side note, can someone tell me, please, where does Obama find these incompetent fools to appoint as his Press Secretary? The role of Press Secretary is vital as it portrays the President’s opinions and thoughts to the press. I would have thought one would want someone who was at least of moderate intelligence, and able to string more than two words together to make a logical sentence. Clearly, this is not a requirement for the job…or maybe Obama wanted someone who closely resembled his own level of intellect….who can match him with use of meaningful diatribes interspersed with …errrr’s and ummmm’s and aaaaahs….

Anyway….Carney is setting the expectations of a momentous speech…and I am sure Obama will deliver…

I am sure we are going to hear bold new plans….
….increased spending on infrastructure projects (you know, those shovel ready ones)
….patent law revisions
….green jobs
….legislation to ensure employers add workers
….payroll tax reduction extensions
….incentives to get employers to create jobs

….oh and of course…

….reductions in spending starting in 2016 to pay for the big spending over …oh, about two decades
…taxes on the rich starting now

Yep, all stuff we have never heard before, right?

He may really surprise us and come up with something different, but I doubt that it will be anything more than a variation of the same theme we have seen forever. You see, this incompetent fool is unable to think outside of the box he was educated in (and man that looks like a very small box!).

His ideology does not allow him to understand even the most basic fundamentals of economics, and therefore he has no idea how jobs are created. He believe government is the driver of job creation.

Well, Obama, here is a simple little economics lesson for you….pay attention, now, you are really going to have to concentrate to understand this:-

1. Government has absolutely NO, ZERO, ZILCH… ability to create private sector jobs. Government policy MAY, in conjunction with economic reality, change WHEN an employer hires a new employee, but it does not, and never has, CREATED a single private sector job!

2. Private industry ALWAYS creates jobs when unburdened by government legislation and regulation. Individual companies or even industries may not survive, but private industry ALWAYS creates NET job increases over time when the government does not get involved.

Why is the case?

Because job creation is based on a couple of simple economic realities:-

1. capital flows to the most efficient businesses. I am sure you have heard the old adage that cash doesn’t lie? Well, that is true. In a true fair market environment, cash will flow toward the most efficient, most profitable and most interesting businesses. It will flow away from those businesses that are not well run, not in strong markets and not profitable.

What does this mean? It means that companies and industries that in markets that have disappeared or are in danger of disappearing, will not survive. They will go the way of the dinosaur. The people working in these industries will become unemployed.

But that is simply the start of the process.

These companies will NOT then be using up resources that would now flow to the efficient companies in strong markets. Those companies will better use that capital to grow markets, and employ more people.

This is how the world works. Markets grow, mature, decline and die. When government chooses which markets should be supported (eg. green companies) and which should be punished (eg. coal sourced electricity) it changes the natural movement of capital. It wastes capital on companies and industries that would never exist if it were not for government intrusion, and prevents capital from flowing to the companies it feels should not exist.

Capital is like water. It flows downhill, until a dam is built to prevent the natural flow. Government is that dam. Government prevents the natural flow. Government prevents the natural flow of capital and hence interrupts the normal product life cycles. The end result is unemployment because the new industry that government supports is insufficiently mature to absorb the massive unemployment caused by castrating strong industries that simply do not meet government’s ideological ideas.

2. Companies and industries grow because they produce what the consumers want. Growth comes from increased demand from the consumer who believes the product has sufficient value that they are prepared to pay real money for it. Competition for those dollars the consumer holds brings product improvement and reduced prices thus continuing to stimulate demand.

Government is unable to legislate that demand. Government is unable to regulate that demand.

Try as they might, government is not able to convince a big truck driving Texan to swap his F350 (with a range of 500 miles) for a Chevy Volt (with a range of 40 miles). This is not going to happen…yet the government has decided that the Volt is the right solution…and that big vehicles should be penalized.

Meddling in the natural flow of demand reduces product innovation, increases costs, induces inefficiencies and makes the company less appealing to the natural flow of capital.

When a company becomes starved of capital…foe either of the reasons above, companies and industries will be put fairly on the fast track to oblivion. If we take this to its logical end, we will eventually be left with inefficient industries producing products we don’t want and don’t need…all paid for by the money taken from you in the form of taxes, taken from you in the form of inflation, or taken from you in the form of currency devaluation.

If you want to live in a world that allows you choice of products to purchase, that continually reinvents itself through innovation and technology advancement, a world that rewards success and punishes failure….then you MUST not allow Washinton to continue trying to create jobs.

Government creation of jobs is the fastest way to economic failure possible.

Now, I shudder when I hear Mitt Romney say he “knows how to create jobs”…and that is a reason he should be President. I shudder because as President he cannot create a single private sector job.

What does he really mean?

If he means that he get government to help small and large businesses succeed, be wary because that is exactly what has destroyed the economy now. We do not need or want that kind of help.
On the hand, if he is really talking about getting the government out of the way bu reducing regulation and legislation, by stopping the spending, stopping the borrowing and reducing taxes, then he has simply misspoken. These actions do not create jobs….they simply create an environment where capital can again start flowing downhill.

Is Romney on the right track? I very much doubt it.

Where is the candidate who can simply and succinctly demonstrate his or her knowledge of the flow of capital and the impact of the government dam?

I don’t know…but I hope to hear from him or her soon!!

Now, a quick word to those who are suffering at the hands of government action. If you are one of the many unemployed, you are not helpless or hopeless.

Here are a few hints that will help you:-

1. Stop writing to strangers and asking them to give you a job. This does not work in an environment where jobs are tight. An alternative is to not look for a job but to look for information. Stop asking for work and start asking people what they look for in an employee, what they like about their own jobs, what advice they would give to a job seeker. Do not go looking for a job, go asking for advice.

2. Give away your skills free of charge. Offer to help somebody with a problem they may have. Offer to do whatever you see as a need. As an example…if you see a store parking lot covered in papers and empty fast food containers, offer to sweep it for no charge. The reason for this? It shows that you care….it shows that you are willing to do whatever is needed…it shows that you are real. If you have specific skills that you thnk can be used, offer them at no charge. This may get you in the door and from there who knows what can happen.

3. Be persistent. Sweep that car park every day….without fail and without being asked. Knock on that door every morning asking if you can do something to help…just because you care. Wear out your knuckles with knocking on doors….carry a resume with you at all times, but only give it if you are asked for it. Remember….you are looking for ways to help or to gather information…you are NOT asking a stranger for a job!

4. Ask friends to introduce you to people who know something about your line of work. Do not ask to be introduced to someone who can give you a job. That is the same as asking a stranger for work. In the current climate you not only have to stand out from the others wanting work, you have to SHOW that you are what the employer needs.

Why will these things work? Because I can guarantee that very few people in your town are doing it. They are all sitting at home, plowing through the classifieds and writing letters to strangers, asking for a job.

You, on the other hand, are out on the streets, making connections, meeting people, proving who you are and what you are willing to do. You are seeking advice, and opportunity. When someone is ready to put on a new employee…you will be remembered…not some faceless letter asking a stranger for a job.

What do you have to lose?

I can tell you that I have used this process…and it works.

And…as a bonus, you will feel better about yourself than you will just watching reruns of Days of our Lives on TV. Get your ass out into the world and find out what is really going on. You may be surprised by how quickly that next job will find you!

Give it a try!

Federal family....or climate change?

Just what was it the Obama was trying to convey over the weekend when he talked of the “federal family” in relation to Irene? I don’t actually know whether the moron used that phrase…but it was certainly a centrally distributed talking point, appearing in op-eds, press releases and statements from all manner of administration agencies. ( I don’t know if the idiot used it because I decided I didn’t want to listen to his pathetic ramblings about the effort the feds were making to keep you all safe. It was bad enough hearing that traitor Janet Napolitano spreading her BS).

“Federal family”.

Sounds almost comforting, doesn’t it?

I assume that was the intent of this phrase…to comfort those who feared the impact of the storm. To assure them that daddy Obama was on the job, with all his minions, the heads of a multitude of federal agencies, all working to look after you and protect you. And should you experience any destruction, we, your federal brothers and sisters are ready to step in and solve your problems.

Your big brothers and sisters of the government will teach you the survival skills you need, from how to fill a sandbag to telling you where the storm is and where it is tracking 40 times every hour!

Did that make you feel better?

Did you feel all warm and cosy as those winds were threatening to blow down your home?

This Obama moron is nothing more than a tingle looking for a leg to run up!

As predicted in Friday’s post, his actions over the weekend, and the actions of his administration were designed NOT to prepare for the storm, but to prepare for the political victory that could be gained AFTER the storm.

What  I didn’t expect was the “federal family”.  Truly, that caught me totally unawares. Of course, it is far more obvious than I would have expected, and far more simple….to this corrupt administration, I tip my hat. This concept was brilliant.

With two simple words, they were able to convey how well big brother can care for you, look after you in your time of need, and provide sustenance and meet all your needs. We are family. We are one. If we can care for you all so well during such a disaster as Irene, how much better able are we to care for you when no disaster is on the horizon?

So Obama and his posse found a way to define the federal government as the savior in these dark times.

Now, we face the aftermath. Those people who believed in the federal family and it’s ability to care for you, will be rewarded with armfuls of trinkets and toys, compliments of Joe the taxpayer. The administration has been laying the groundwork to use this potential tragedy to leverage more spending.

More money will be needed for structural repairs, for assisting families who were flooded out etc etc etc…the list will grow on a daily basis.

Of course, we haven’t yet started hearing about the expensive things….today, it became clear that the insurance companies will not be hurt as much by this event as first thought. Why? Because most of the damage was caused by flooding, NOT by the storm. Unless property owners had flood insurance, they were not covered.

This is bad news for those who will inevitably lose their homes and their belongings as the flood waters rise. But by choosing not to insure for floods, they took that risk.

I expect to see the administration find a way to provide relief for those people….after all, we are a federal family…and a family would not turn its back on a family member in need, right? So your taxes and my taxes will find their way into the pockets of those who chose to take the risk.

Call me a hard ass if you want…but…I feel for those who are flooded out, I feel for their sense of loss. I fully support private charity helping them. I simply do not support government assistance with dollars stolen from everyone else.

Of course, Obama will find himself in a trap if he does not help out. The left will turn on him faster than you can imagine. And the weaklings on the right will support a special fund for these folk that lost everything because they see it as “the right thing to do’.

Well, they have no right to make a moral judgment that involves the use of your money or my money. Who gave these idiots the moral superiority to make those decisions?

The federal family….perhaps one of the most condescending euphemisms for federal government ever promoted.

Speaking of condescending, I want to change gears and look at Al Gore for a moment.

Al Gore…the do nothing vice President under slick willy Bill Clinton.

I have to admit Al did a reasonable job during his campaign for presidency in 200o against George W. Bush.

He did, however, make a major mistake.

If you recall, on election night, as the votes were being counted, Al Gore came out on stage, and conceded victory to George Bush. In a moving concession speech, he congratulated Bush on his victory and left the stage.

Bush did not claim victory at that time.

Of course, it was not over. 30 minutes or so after Gore’s concession, he reappeared on stage…

“Ooooops. Just kidding. I didn’t really concede. That was a mulligan.”

In my world, when someone concedes it is game over.

When a chess player concedes, all play stops. They don’t play a couple more moves each to see what could have happened. It is over…done.

Apparently, in Al Gore’s world, words mean nothing. He showed on that election night the very character of his soul. His words mean nothing. His honor is not important to him. He simply feels he had a right to go again because he made a mistake.

SO, this idiot disappears from the scene for a while after he fights his election loss through the courts in a disgusting display of arrogance.

And then he suddenly reappears as the leading light of the man made global warming movement. Of course, since global warming has been disproved by science, it is now the man made climate change movement…which even Gore knows is impossible to prove or disprove.

This paragon of integrity and honor, this multi millionaire who has amassed in excess of $200 million wealth in the few years he has been the climate change spokesperson, this hypocrite who does not need to practice what he preaches…this idiot, expects us all to bow down before him and be who he wants us to be.

This despicable person sunk to a new low this weekend when talking about man made climate change…

...he likened people who question man made climate change to the racists of his “early years”…

“I remember, again going back to my early years in the South, when the Civil Rights revolution was unfolding, there were two things that really made an impression on me. My generation watched Bull Connor turning the hose on civil rights demonstrators and we went, ‘Whoa! How gross and evil is that?’ My generation asked old people, ‘Explain to me again why it is okay to discriminate against people because their skin color is different?’ And when they couldn’t really answer that question with integrity, the change really started.
Secondly, back to this phrase ‘win the conversation,’” he continued. “There came a time when friends or people you work with or people you were in clubs with — you’re much younger than me so you didn’t have to go through this personally — but there came a time when racist comments would come up in the course of the conversation and in years past they were just natural. Then there came a time when people would say, ‘Hey, man why do you talk that way, I mean that is wrong. I don’t go for that so don’t talk that way around me. I just don’t believe that.’ That happened in millions of conversations and slowly the conversation was won.”

So, what is he trying to say here? Many reports are saying that he is calling opponents of man made global warming as being akin to racists. There may be some of that in there, but I don’t think that is what this all about.

I think Gore is simply trying to STOP the conversation.

After all, if you go to a club and the conversation naturally turns to BTU’s (British Thermal Units” and everybody jumps down your throat saying “Hey man, we don’t talk like that any more”…then eventually the discussion will stop…just as racism stopped, right?

This is the start of the left’s playbook. When you can’t win the debate, kill the discussion.

Has anybody else ever noticed that all of Gore’s talk occurs in his own vacuum? He has NEVER  (to my knowledge) undertaken a serious debate one on one with a person of alternate views. We know he has fair debating skills as seen in his debates with Bush (fair, I said, not good!)

Of course, his interest is not in winning a debate. His interest is not even in stopping man made global warming. Nor is his interest in lobbying for a reduction n green house gasses. These are all the surface things that he uses to build his own fortune on the back of the lie that is man made global climate change.

He has thousands of scientists around the world concocting blatantly false information to support his views, because…get this…governments give grants to scientists to study global warming/climate change. Scientists do not get grants to study something they claim does not exist. The scientific community has sacrificed truth on the altar of trinkets provided by the government. This is a world wide phenomenon, and hence is why so many scientists come out in force for the climate change proponents…each one of them unknowingly putting more dollars into the pockets of one, Mr. Al Gore.

Gore sees the writing on the wall. The anti man-made movement gets stronger and produces more irrefutable evidence than it has in the past.

The only way Gore can maintain his standard of luxury living is to shut down the conversation so that the truth can not be heard.

That is what I believe this speech was about…not racism, but shutting down the conversation.

SO…we have the federal family feeding our needs, and we have the global warming movement shutting down the discussion….

Can anyone say….big brother?

Will they say what they really mean?

In about 8 hours, the conservative world will grind to a halt...or at least slow down a little as conservatives across the country tune in to Fox to watch what they hope will be the coming together of the best candidates for the Republican nomination for the White House.

Of course, more than a few will likely tune in to see the train-wreck that this thing could easily become.

Let's take a quick look at the players...

Mitt Romney...establishment, seasoned campaigner, good looks aside he is the current front runner...add the photogenic good looks and he is way in front....it is a shame that his message is off target. It is a shame that he is so "establishment"...and it would be disastrous for him to win the nomination. I expect him to spend this debate dumping on Obama (which is, of course, much needed) but he will probably avoid any significant position statements, and will definitely avoid any execution questions. He will play the safe game....not tell anybody what he plans or how he plans to do it...and relying on his "trust me" smile to win votes. Boring!!

Michelle Bachman remains an interesting possibility, if only because it would be great to have a hot woman President. Her message so far seems to be on-target and has gathered the support of the tea party. The left is working hard to tar her with the Palin brush...and to some extent is succeeding. For Bachman to win, she needs to focus on her solutions. If I were advising her, I would be suggesting that she totally ignore the other candidates, not give any credence to comparisons or different ideas....and not be drawn into discussions of policy. Rather, she should strongly answer EVERY question by referring to her policies and plans to execute them. When asked about Obama, she should dismiss the question as being as irrelevant to our future as he is.
If nothing else, this approach could add some much needed interest to what could otherwise be a very boring debate.

Tim Pawlenty? Tim who? As an early favorite he has become nothing more than a suit with a soft voice. Lacking any personality that crosses the airwaves, he is beginning to sound like someone who may have some good ideas, but is too scared to come out and speak loudly and surely against his opponents. I don't see him going anywhere....but of course, maybe he will walk into the debate with a megaphone so he can be heard over all the clutter? On second thoughts, I like the visual...a good prop.

Rick Santorum. Apart from looking like a schoolboy in an adult world, Rick is struggling to find his voice. I suspect that he is still trying to understand what he wants to achieve, much less knowing HOW to achieve it. If I were advising Rick for tonight, I would suggest that he show his determination with a full fronted attack on Obama, and the RINO's in his party. He needs to make it clear that he is not just a younger and less experienced version of the other contenders. He needs to show he has fight in him that is beyond his boyish looks. I personally do not think he has a chance...but who knows?

Newt Gingrich. I like a lot of what Newt says...but I hate a lot of it too. For me, he is establishment without establishment power...the worst of both worlds. Apart from that, I have great trouble with a President called Newt...perhaps this comes from an Australian phrase..."pissed as a Newt" which means uncontrollably inebriated. Hmmm...not very fitting for the President of the United States. Of course, names carry no weight in this country of the free, right? So, he has as much of a chance as any other establishment type.

Herman Cain. An interesting guy who I think would make a great dinner party guest. But a President? I don't know. I suspect he has already caught the establishment disease through his work with the Fed...but at least he has some executive experience that could help in running the White House kitchen. That puts him way ahead of the community organizer. Can he lead the country as we need? I have my doubts, although when I first took a look at him, I found him appealing. I am not sure what he lost...he remains interesting but not enough to get my vote.

Ron Paul. As a conservative aligned to many libertarian principles I should be supportive of someone like Ron Paul. And I actually wish I could be. Unfortunately that is not the case. I support many of his positions, but I wish he didn't sound so crazy. There is something about the way he explains his positions that sounds almost like whining (which I abhor). He is a smart man, and knows what he believes, and believes what he knows....something lacking in most contenders. I believe a large part of his message is on track....unfortunately he cannot sell it and the part that is not on track is soooooo far off that it scares the voters. This man can't win...and would be better served seeking an advisory role in the background.

And then there is John Huntsman.  The liberals so want this guy to be the Republican candidate that they orgasm just at the thought of it. Of all the candidates, this is the only one that is dumber than their man, and would lose an election to a box of rocks. That is why they say he is their biggest threat. This is the liberals trying to pick the Republican nominee they know they can beat. Enough said.

If I have left anyone out...I guess that tells you what impact they have on me.

For me, I do not see any candidates in this field that are the perfect choice. I see some ok choices, I see some potential for future elections, but there is nobody here that makes me stand up and cheer. The closest to that is Bachman...but I have reservations about her too.

So, when the world slows down and these contenders take their places, each trying to build some momentum in front of the straw poll on Saturday (that most people seem to think is the most important event in history)...we would be well served to remember that there are two 800lb gorilla's missing from this line-up. Palin and Perry have yet to committ, and if either decided to go fo it, it would shake up this group no end.

I suspect that Palin will not run...not because she would not win, but because she enjoys the role of king or queen maker. She knows how to attack the left, she knows that her supporters will support her choices. SHe can promote a candidate while becoming the foil that protects him or her. She could just be the perfect kingmaker, and I think she relishes that role.

Perry, on the other hand, will most likely throw his hat in the ring. If he does, he could easily become a front-runner almost overnight. He has already shown a proclivity for being outspoken, and is not afraid to let his beliefs be seen. He has the right message for the right time. His Marlboro Man looks and Texan background could create a bit of Bush inspired backlash, but he can handle that easily. The fact that he has not yet announced indicates to me that he is choosing a time for maximum benefit. He could certainly 9add interest to an otherwise largely boring group.

I really want to see some excitement tonight. I want to see someone, anyone, stand up and say...

"It's time!"

It's time for lower spending.

It's time for lower debt!

It's time to start growing this economy.

It's time to face the truth and take the tough decisions.

It's time to have real leadership in the WH.

It's time to put away childish dreams and fantasies, and to work with the reality we have.

It's time for a change...not the hope and change we bought into 4 years ago, but the change we need to restore freedom and stop tyranny!

It's time for socialists, marxists, communists, leftists, statists and all the other "ists" to get their butts kicked and be sent packing to slime they arose from from.

It's time for conservatives to take the lead!"

I am hoping for too much here, I know. What I expect to see are nice words, refusal to speak clearly, and little of substance.

I hope I am surprised.
