Stupid is as stupid does....

In 1994, the classic movie Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks, was released upon an unsuspecting public. Filled with memorable and quotable lines, this movie wowed the critics and the public alike, winning 6 Oscars and numerous other awards. In fact, this movie is considered to be one of the top ranked movies of all time.

The main character, Forrest Gump was prone to saying things, which, on the surface appear to be simplistic nonsense, but hold deep and potentially life-changing truths for any who care to take the time to listen.

One of these simplistic statements was "Stupid is as stupid does".

I don't know whether to blame Winston Groom (the novelist) or Eric Roth (who wrote the screenplay) for this terrible miscarriage of justice. Yes, there is no doubt that "Stupid is as stupid does"...this statement is supported by many other similar statements such as a "a mans actions are louder than his words"...but it leaves out perhaps the most powerful (and dangerous) aspects of stupidity.

If I had any say in the writing of this fine movie, I would have changed that statement to "Stupid is as stupid says"!

In this world of sound bites and limited concentration spans, of contraction of truth into bite sized portions that no longer hold any logical sense, what is SAID is equally as important as what is DONE. In fact, it is becoming more apparent that what is said makes headlines, while what is done makes headaches.

In fact words and actions have never been more separated.

A glance at any newspaper will detail for you the chasm between actions and words. Read about the priests who preach moral values and diddle little boys on the side. Read about the politician who speaks of fairness while accepting bribes from powerful lobbyists. Read about the business magnate who pledges to give his wealth to charity while outsourcing his manufacturing plants to third world countries providing cheap child labor under horrendous conditions.

These are the obvious things that anyone with a 3rd grade education can see...and that is where the problem lays with relying on the truth of "actions speak louder than words". As a society we have come to believe that words are no longer important. We have deemed words to have no value.

And that is a problem. A huge problem.

Words SHOULD and DO have value. A man's word should be the motivation for his actions. If he says he will do something, he should do it and he should be held accountable for his actions by referring to his words.

This is what Devereaux Daily Dose is about. It is about listening to what people say, and holding them accountable for it. It is about pointing out the stupidity in what people say. At times, it may be humorous...at times it may reflect my anger at the stupidity of people.

I will not waste words on being politically correct. I will attack all sides of the political spectrum where I see stupidity, but I must warn you that as a conservative, I have a strong bias against the stupidity of the left, and the stupidity of those who refuse to see the truth of the socialist movement pushing this great country toward oblivion.

If you are a liberal, a progressive, or any of the other names used as an attempt to redefine socialist, you will most likely not want to read this blog. (Unless you enjoy being ridiculed, and having the lies spoken by the objects of your political devotion being exposed.) Of course, you may see the error of your thinking and come back to the fold of sanity, but I highly doubt that. Liberals and progressives are already a lost cause.

My objective is to help conservatives understand why they think the way they do. I plan to provide arguments that are based on sound logic to countermand the stupid statements of the left.

You are free to comment. I am a believer in the goodness of mankind and will provide an unmoderated forum for comments to start with. If I find that unsuitable or derogatory attacks are made on myself or my readers, the comments will become moderated. There will be no censorship of thought but abusive comments will not be acceptable.

If you are a conservative who is sick and tired of the stupid comments from the left, you may enjoy this blog.

An example of stupid comments that I plan to discuss are:-
- Jesus was a liberal
- Fox news makes you stupid

- and my personal favorite from today..."Conservatives have larger fear-center" claiming that Republicans have more of the "primitive" parts of the brain and Democrats have more of the parts responsible for "courage and optimism".

My sources for stupidity range from Facebook, to news articles to blogs and comments by commentators and reporters. The sad truth is that you don't have to look too far to find stupid comments and statements. Statements by politicians are one of the easiest places to find stupidity!

I hope my readers will like what I do...let me know your thoughts and tell me if you would like me to tackle something specific.

If you don't like what I say...suck it up because I am not going to change.

Look for my first attack on stupidity in the next couple of days.

Remember ...STUPID IS AS STUPID SAYS.
