16 ways to happiness

The title of this post sounds almost like one of those marketing slogans....you know the ones..."Lose 100 pounds in 16 days or get your money back!"...or..."These 16 simple tips will turn you into a millionaire in 16 days or less!"...or how about..."16 little known techniques that will get you love life turned up to 16 on the heat scale !"

But...no...today's blog is nothing like that...it is ....

.... brought to you by…the number 16.

Sixteen is not just the sweet birthday your daughter is looking forward to…although it is sweet in a couple of other ways.

1.      16 is the number of democrats in the House who have now stated they will not seek re-election in 2012. This may not be a remarkable number but compared to the Conservatives 6 is certainly noteworthy. All we can hope for is that the Democrats do what they do so well…run and duck as fast as they can, run away when the chips are down, and that the inflation that is coming to a store near you first reaches the numbers of democrats not running in 2012.

2.      16 just also happens to the number of terms that the loveable, happy and gay Barney Fwank has served in the House prior to today’s announcement that he will not seek re-election. How fitting that his announcement after 16 terms makes him the 16th democrat to make that announcement. Of course, his decision not to seek re-election clearly has nothing to do with the redistricting that makes his re-election almost impossible…but as he says, it was because he can no longer “represent the people in a House that refuses to accept increased taxation” (paraphrased).

3.      16 is also widely believed to represent the number of lies the Obama administration has started before breakfast today. While there is no real evidence to support this, I am of the opinion that the number is actually significantly higher than this…but since today is brought to you by the number 16, then political expediency requires me to accept that it was exactly 16.  (OMG – I have caught the disease….am I really becoming a liberal and making the information fit the story regardless of truth?)

I actually do not know if 16 is a large number of politicians from one party who have decided not to seek re-election or not. Last I looked, there were 192 Democrats in the House….16 represents 8.3% of sitting Democrat congressman. (To be fair 6 Republicans are also not seeking re-election – out of 242  - approximately 2.4%)

I am not a big football fan, although I do enjoy watching the game occasionally…to me American football is too slow…too “stop and start”. (My wife says she can’t believe grown men fighting over one little ball…just give them all one!) After seeing Australian football, American football simply lacks the speed, agility and flavor…but I digress.

What would we think if 8.3% of last years Superbowl winners, the Packers, decided to retire this year?

What would we think if 8.3% of teachers decided to retire this year?

Or 8.3% of policemen, or first responders of any type?

In my books, 8.3% is a large proportion of anything, and the loss of so many in one year will damage any organization.

And yet the progressives tell us everything is fine and dandy in Leftyland!!

As far as I can tell, the rats are deserting the good ship Lollipop faster than Barney can re-open his gay prostitution ring! Not only is Barney the poster boy for term limits, but he is the king of corruption and prince of economic doom. The only people who will miss this creep are those hoping to follow in his footsteps, seeking to learn how to enter Congress as a pauper and leave as a multimillionaire.

Barney…may the blue bird of happiness crap all over your retirement cake just as you did the American people.

I really have to learn to say what I really mean!

“You know, Barney, life is funny. One minute people are your best friends, and the next you're fantasizing they're being ripped apart by a pack of rabid wolves.”
……………………………………….Betty Rubble, The Flintstones, 1994

Oh yes, Barney…how well do you imagine those wolves now?

On more important issues, …..oooops…if the news headlines give any indication, there are no more important issues than Barney’s retirement. Even the Dow finished up 300 points…the talking heads say that is in response to the big Black Friday sales results…but I disagree…it is because Barney is going!!

So…onto things of lesser importance….

I read recently that China is the second largest importer of foods into the USA (after Mexico). Even our apple juice comes from China.

Now I have to wonder something…..if the Chinese and Mexican economies are so bad that they have trouble feeding their own people, what the heck are they doing feeding us lazy Americans? Or does it have something to do with the quality of the product they send us? Could it be they send us the stuff they know their own people won’t eat/drink? After all, the shipments of products most rejected at our ports come from China. Wonder if there is some connection…….?

As long as people prefer to pay less for the low quality and potentially dangerous stuff coming out of China and Mexico, these countries will continue to feed our ignorant masses with low quality and potentially dangerous stuff.

Of course, the left would have you believe that this is just a way of ensuring world wide income equality…that the people of China and Mexico are assisted by the consumption of these products in America. While this is true…and I am not saying it is necessarily a bad thing…I have to ask the question…..why do we even care about income equality?

Why is this even a topic of discussion let alone a statement of legitimacy that OWS type groups can attach themselves to?

Why is that we try to find arguments to support income inequality?

What is income equality if not stealing from one and giving to another?

The reality is…life is not fair. Some people have more than others…some people have less…suck it up and stop complaining.

I swear I am going to bitch slap the next person who tries to justify taxes, entitlements, freebies or any other form of government largesse on the basis of income inequality. If there is one thing that I can point to in the liberal mantra that the conservatives do not yet understand…it is their reliance on income equality or inequality as a justifiable argument for social programs, spending, taxation and a myriad of other wrongs that the governments from both sides of the fence have perpetrated against the workers, the producers of this nation.

And conservatives fall into the trap of trying to argue…when they should simply say…”Yes, income inequality exists. So what?????”

When are conservatives going to learn that as soon as they start playing the game of the progressives, they lose.

Stupid is as stupid says.

A foot long crap sandwich.

A week is a long time in politics!

And what a week it has been.

We have had the OWS warriors crying about being pepper sprayed when they refused to follow a direct and legal order given by a reluctant police officer. Oh, “boo hoo hoo” …run home to mommy, you fools. Being pepper sprayed is the least of your worries…and does not even come close to proving your virility.

Fools!

And the laughs continue. Michelle Bachman appeared on the Jimmy Fallon show recently. The band struck up…and Ms. Bachman walked to the host to the tune of “Lyin’ Ass Bitch”…well done Mr Fallon….you have once again shown who you truly are.

Can you imagine the uproar if President Obama was introduced on a conservative TV program while the band played “Some Niggers Never Die” by Johnny Rebel?

The unabashed hypocrisy of the left is sickening…but unfortunately they get away with it daily because the media thinks they are clever…while if a conservative host did it, it would be disrespectful racist and unacceptable.

More fools!

And now we get to the super committee…or perhaps better referred to as the stupor committee.

About a week ago I wrote that the super committee would not come to agreement. See that post here… http://devereauxdailydose.blogspot.com/2011/11/three-blind-micesee-how-they-run.html ...

Well, I was obviously right because the stupor committee has now admitted failure to reach agreement.
As Gomer Pyle would say….”Surprise, surprise, surprise”.

Oh the shock…the horror….the utter turmoil that the economy will be thrust into now that the stupor committee has admitted failure and all the requisite cuts will automatically kick in!! How will we survive?

What’s that? The cuts don’t kick in until 2013? Wow…so financial and economic Armageddon is not going to happen? I really thought that with the claims of Obama about the Republicans, certain economic death was expected if they didn’t play the Democrats game?

Guess I was wrong on that and economic disaster is deferred until AFTER the next election! What a surprise! How convenient.

After all….50% of the cuts will be in defense spending and the other 50% in government programs. Over a ten year period….so…about….ummm….$60 billion a year in defense spending…..and $60 billion in other spending….out of a budget of around $4 trillion?

Yep…certain economic Armageddon will follow.

Of course, the Republican hopefuls were able to discuss this at length in last night’s debate. Most were in agreement that cuts to defense were not only stupid but very dangerous to this country. Ron Paul yawned and pointed out that the cuts were not real…they were only a reduction in proposed increases in spending…and therefore merited no more than another yawn…..

On this occasion Ron Paul was right…..yawn!

Speaking of the debate, it appears that the subject matter did not really provide a platform for the candidates to have the “moment” that I have continually said is needed for a candidate to win selection. See my post here for what I think is necessary…. http://devereauxdailydose.blogspot.com/2011/06/wanna-win-forget-debates.html .....

None of the candidates really made an impact ….except perhaps for Newt Gingritch who clearly has not understood the depth of the illegal immigrant problem. His “moment” last night could easily become a “moment” he will regret when he said (paraphrased)…”If an illegal has been here for 25 years and has several kids and a couple of grandkids, has been working and paying his taxes etc. We should not break up that family. Not all illegals should be sent home.”

Really, Newt? Really? You do realize that you are talking amnesty for a specific group of illegals….treating people differently. I can imagine what a disaster such a program would be…and our courts would simply apply that “stay here” exclusion to every class of illegals in the interest of fairness.

Newt…some advice from a political nobody….you are going to need some very serious damage control on this one. The conservative voter does not want to hear any talk of amnesty in any form. You are best advised to stating simply:-
1.      You will close the borders, fill the holes, destroy the tunnels, build the fence…fill the moat, stock it with crocs…whatever….just state that you will stop the illegals from slinking across the border
2.      You will provide the resources and tools and support for the current existing immigration laws to be defended and applied. You will fast track the court process and illegals will be sent home as quickly as possible under the current regulations

No talk of amnesty….no talk of new legislation. Just compliance with existing laws and a big fence!

So we see all sorts of foolishness happening around us. The lies from the left are becoming bigger and louder and range from the absurdity of the Bush tax cuts for the rich to the absurdity of government being too big to shrink.

Just a couple of days ago, Gennaro Bernile, a professor of finance at the University of Miami, handed down these words of wisdom:  "The big debate is how do you reconcile shrinking the government with not killing the economy, because the government is a big chunk of the economy, and if you shrink the government, you shrink the economy."

This guy is a professor of finance? And he is telling us that if we shrink the government we will kill the economy?

As much as this is an indictment on the education of this professor as it is an indication of the nonsense being taught our young people, the fact remains that a group of influential leftist people are able to lie so blatantly that everybody believes them.

The fact that Economics 101 clearly shows the lies inherent in this statement is irrelevant…who would ever want the facts to get in the way of the story?

Let me see….a government produces nothing, right? It doesn’t generate any revenues? It doesn’t build anything? All it does is take money away from people who make things and give it to people who do not make things. Oh…there is a word for that….ummm…oh yes…redistribution of wealth.

If the government was reduced by 50% in size and all government expenditure was reduced by 50% what would happen?

Ummm…firstly a lot of people would not have jobs and would find themselves on the unemployment lines. Last time I looked unemployment is paid at a much lower rate than these employees would have been earning so there is a huge government cost saving there.

The next thing to happen is that the economy would grow almost instantaneously due to a number of things:-
1.      New opportunities for private enterprises to take the roles that now defunct government enterprises used to do (eg. Health and safety, FDA etc)
2.      Reduced government spending means reduced government borrowing and reduced printing of money, therefore the value of the dollar would rise significantly
3.      Confidence would return to the private sector
4.      Money would stay in the hands of the people who make something – so more somethings could be made

If you are unsure how a $60k job in the private sector is better economically than a $60k job in the government sector, please read this… http://devereauxdailydose.blogspot.com/2011/09/economy-needs-jobs.html

So now the left tells us that some banks are too big to fail……that some car manufacturers are too big to fail….and that government is too big to shrink.

Can anyone tell me how we lost all semblance of common sense? At what time did we decide that it was better to agree with the lies and enjoy our ride to oblivion, rather than face reality and fight like hell to get back on the right track?

The Obama administration, starting with that fool himself, and working all the way down the ranks is doing nothing to create value, create wealth or create a strong economy.

Why?

Because Giovernments can not do any of those things. Yet an increasing number of imbeciles believe that not only can government do that, it is the government’s role to do it. Standing with hands out and begging…”Please, sir, may I have another” results in the government putting a foot long crap sandwich in your outstretched begging hands.

For some reason, those on the left seem to want that…it is really not to my taste. I would rather earn my five dollars creating something and going to Subway for a $5 foot long, than eat the freebie crap the Government buys votes with.

The government is too big to shrink? Crap!

Stupid is as stupid says.

Life is a state of mind.

“Life is a state of mind.”
………………………………..President Bobby, Being There, 1979

When Peter Sellers brought to life the character of Chauncy Gardiner, in this comedy classic, the humor was largely in the ridiculous notion that a mere gardener, who could neither read nor write, could become a major political figure, advising the most important politicians of the day, including the President.

While I am quite sure that the writer, Jerry Kozinski, would have loved an outcome where Gardiner became President, such an ending would have taken the film from plausibly funny to implausibly stupid. (Of course, this film was released in the middle of the Carter years (1979 – 1981)…so it may not have been so outlandish. After all, if a peanut farmer can garner the Presidency, why not a gardener?)

Now that I hear Barack Obama give his speeches, make his campaign promises, talk of the economy and the cure to what ails it, I simply cannot help but remember “Being There”.

Only in this case we have a community organizer who either can’t read or can’t comprehend the written word, rising up to become President of the United States. And just like President Bobby, he thinks that “Life is a state of mind”.

What do I mean by that?

Simply that Obama has no interest in reality….and is determined to convince everyone that life has no grounding in reality but is simply a state of mind.

This is the reason behind many of his so-called flubs. For instance….

-        - When he talked of visiting 57 states, his state of mind was dwelling on the Heinz 57 varieties and wondering which he would have on his cheeseburger after the speech

-        - When he was speaking of the Navy Corpseman (not the Navy Corpsman) he was a little confused since he had just watched the Tim Burton classic “The Corpse Bride” and was slightly confused

-       -  Or…he could have been referring to the KIA Medal of Honor recipient Jared Monte….who Obama thought was still alive

-       -  We can all understand how he thought Austria had it’s own language…he was channeling the career of Arnie at the time

-        - And then of course there is the state of mind that Hawaii is part of Asia….I wonder if Michelle knows of his fetish for Asian women? That was clearly his of mind during that particular speech.

Yes, life is but a state of mind.

Of course, there are many parallels between Chauncy Gardiner and Barack Obama….

“ Ron Steigler: Mr. Gardner, uh, my editors and I have been wondering if you would consider writing a book for us, something about your um, political philosophy, what do you say?
Chance the Gardener: I can't write.
Ron Steigler: Heh, heh, of course not, who can nowadays? Listen, I have trouble writing a postcard to my children. Look uhh, we can give you a six figure advance, I'll provide you with the very best ghost-writer, proof-readers...
Chance the Gardener: I can't read.
Ron Steigler: Of course you can't! No one has the time! We, we glance at things, we watch television...
Chance the Gardener: I like to watch TV.”
…………………..Being There, 1979

Can Obama read? There is significant doubt about this. I suspect he can read but has trouble with comprehension. After all, he seems to be able to read his teleprompter sort of ok…but when the words make no sense he still delivers them as they were written.  I really do not think there is any truth in the rumor that when he delivers a speech and stops frequently, it is because he is listening to the next few words being delivered through his miniature ear plug (called an earwig)…although that would explain the frequent gaps in the flow of his speech (often in appropriate places), especially if he can only be delivered a couple of words at t a time. Who knew?

Anyway…back to his reading. I think he can read somewhat, but with limited comprehension. Perhaps that is why he was able to rise to the Presidency where Gardiner was unable to take that final step?

Chauncy also states clearly that he can’t write either. Sometimes I wonder whether Obama’s speechwriters are related?

And then there is that final line…”I like watching TV”….enough said!!

In this world of sound bites and short concentration spans TV is the media of choice for liberal politicians who understand that their constituencies are filled with people just like them…people who are unlikely to read, and simply like watching TV. Obama and his advisers know this…and also like watching TV….that is where they get the pulse that they are so good at interpreting. That is where their base lives…and they study it as closely as they study foreign affairs.

And then there is the economy….following on our theme of “Life is a state of mind”…the economy sucks, but don’t worry…that is just a state of mind …the truth is….

“President "Bobby": Mr. Gardner, do you agree with Ben, or do you think that we can stimulate growth through temporary incentives?
[Long pause]
Chance the Gardener: As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden.
President "Bobby": In the garden.
Chance the Gardener: Yes. In the garden, growth has it seasons. First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again.
President "Bobby": Spring and summer.
Chance the Gardener: Yes.
President "Bobby": Then fall and winter.
Chance the Gardener: Yes.
Benjamin Rand: I think what our insightful young friend is saying is that we welcome the inevitable seasons of nature, but we're upset by the seasons of our economy.
Chance the Gardener: Yes! There will be growth in the spring!”

……..Being There, 1979

Well it may not be Shakespeare but it is just as poignant…

Shakespeare wrote in the first two lines of Richard III:
"Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun [or son] of York," .

If Obama could read he would consider himself the Son of York….the healer, the leader, the messiah of this economy….but since his reading skills are somewhat lacking he would be more likely to watch Being There on TV…

….and would take great faith that after the winter spring will come…and with spring, growth.

The winter of discontent will pass away and an era of unparalleled growth will take its place….led by the sun of York.

Oh my….if ever President Bobby’s words were true…”Life is a state of mind”…then this must be it. It is only by ignoring reality, by living in a fantasy world,….actually, by watching television….that anyone could possibly think that a spring of growth will follow this dark winter….

This is nothing more than a mind numbingly stupid belief in fairly tales.

A President who dealt in reality would see our winter of discontent settling in for an extended stay. Obama is no son of York able to turn it into a glorious summer….

With the elections due in November next year, the Obama circus has nearly a year during which it can prepare and pursue a campaign of righteous anger directed at the “do nothing” Republicans, an intransigent Congress and obstructionist conservatives.

It has a year to convince the electorate that the winter of discontent is nothing more than a state of mind.

It has a year to convince the suffering, the unemployed, the homeless and the poor that their suffering is not real…it is only a state of mind.

It has a year to blame the economic realities on Bush, tsunamis, Eurozone financial problems, too little stimulus, the tea party…and now the lazy American people who just will not go out and start businesses or grow them.

It has a year to continue its race program of division. A year to ignite the jealousies of the have-nots and declare class warfare against the haves.

A year to push through bad policy….

All in the name of finding a way to give more freebies and trinkets to the unsuspecting addicts of government largesse…trinkets that ease the pain, cloud the mind and fog the memory. The drugs of choice of many Americans who also believe that life is a state of mind…and all they have to do is demand, and it shall be given unto them.

A winter of discontent?

Giving the addicted their desires will stop them seeing the perils of their addiction and the true state of the winter.

Yes, life is a state of mind.

And Obama is likely to use the color of his skin as his biggest weapon….

“Louise: It's for sure a white man's world in America. Look here: I raised that boy since he was the size of a piss-ant. And I'll say right now, he never learned to read and write. No, sir. Had no brains at all. Was stuffed with rice pudding between th' ears. Shortchanged by the Lord, and dumb as a jackass. Look at him now! Yes, sir, all you've gotta be is white in America, to get whatever you want. Gobbledy-gook!”

Three blind mice...see how they run!

Is today really only Tuesday?

So few days into the week and so many choices of stupidity to examine. I feel like a kid in a candy store today…..lol

I think I will pick my 3 favorites today….

1.      OWS
2.      DOJ
3.      Supercommittee

The Occupiers have been occupied. Bloomberg finally grew a pair and tossed the occupiers out of Zucotti Park. A police action in the early hours saw the park cleared of vermin and then cleared of the trash the vermin left behind. This was closely followed by the occupiers obtaining injunctive relief by court order which they claimed allowed them to return complete with tents, sleeping bags and the accoutrements of civilized living that they have been enjoying for how long? A couple of months?

That injunction was proven to be short-lived as a court decision in the last few minutes makes it clear that while the protestors are free to return to Zucotti Park, they are not permitted to set up camp, bring tents, sleeping bags etc, or stay overnight.

Where are they to go? As I wipe away the tears that are streaming down my face I have to ask….how could the world be so mean as to prevent people from demonstrating peacefully?

Well…if it was a peaceful law abiding demonstration, I could have supported their right to be there. But it wasn’t. Far from it.

The exact moment that the occupiers decided to use that name for themselves, they were stepping on thin ice. You see, the term “occupy” in the sense they meant it…means that they are taking by force, that which does not belong to them. They knew they were not in Zucotti Park by right, but were in fact taking something that didn’t belong to them, and in doing so, preventing those who rightfully could have been there from being there.

Are you with me?

The general public was unable to use that park while the idiots were occupying it. This was in fact preventing by force, by intimidation, and by oderiferous assault…the ability of many of the rightful users of the park from enjoying all it had to offer.

Anyway, the amazing thing is not that the OWS groups are being chased out of town, but that it has taken the local governments so long to do it. I do not understand this at all. Had I been Bloomberg, I would have done something similar to what he did last night….the second night the encampment was there. I would have sent a strong message that this would not be accepted. I would have surrounded the park with riot police all banging on their shields to drown out the camp drummers, and then simply worked from one end to the other clearing out the demonstrators and their trash.

Weird how he discovered it could be done after two long months!

And this in turn makes me wonder if there is any truth to three rumors I heard yesterday….
-        That Joe Biden’s son has just been employed as a lawyer by the Zucotti Park owners, Brookfield Properties?
-        That Bloomberg’s live in girlfriend sits on the Board of Brookfield Properties?
-        That Brookfield Properties received a significant payment from Obama’s last stimulus package for shovel ready jobs?

I actually do not know if these are true or not….but they sure do make great fodder for a press starved of real news…oh…I forgot….it is only unsubstantiated claims against conservatives that get Press coverage…not possibly true claims about liberals!

Enough of this stupid movement, OWS.  Just more of the same.

Let’s look at my second piece of stupidity for today. The much loved and highly regarded Department of Justice. You know, the department that allowed hundreds of weapons, perhaps even thousands, to walk across the border to Mexico…with nobody knowing where they ultimately ended up.

While the operation was itself an exercise in stupidity, that is not what I want to look at today.

Today I am looking at the answers that Eric Holder and his side-kick Kevin Ohlson. It seems that Ohlson is nominated for a federal Appeals Court and this whole fast and furious thing might put a kink in his plans to drive Obama’s agenda in the Courts.

Anyway, what is really stupid is this…

We have heard that Holder didn’t know about it…now we hear that his sidekick Ohlson didn’t know about it. In fact Ohlson admitted that he didn’t read the case files unless there was something on the front page that interested him. What sort of idiots are we dealing with here?

I would have thought that a file that had a front page stating that thousands of weapons had found their way to Mexico as a result of a crappy plan by ATF would have been something he found of interest? Wouldn’t you?

If it was me, I would have been all over this thing…but I guess he was way more interested in something else than he was in DOING HIS JOB! I wonder if a search of his computer usage would show anything of interest? Maybe a subscription to the Latin issue of GunsRUS? Or maybe the Mission Impossible tapes with Obama instructing him “if he chooses to take the mission”?

I don’t know what I find most offensive. The fact that a program was launched with insufficient safeguards to prevent the operation going awry, or that the heads of the DoJ, by their own admission, did not know about either the operation or that it had gone horribly wrong.

These jerks in DoJ have to go.

….and finally I get to my favorite piece of stupidity….the Super committee concocted in the feverish brain of an incompetent President and then thrust upon the unsuspecting American people in a display of arrogance not before seen.

Let’s recap here for a minute.

Obama wanted to increase the debt limit to avoid a government shutdown and stop grandma from getting her social security.

The Republicans did not want to increase the debt limit without a significant reduction in spending.

Obama wanted to reduce the deficit by increasing taxes. The Republican controlled House said “NO”…there has to be a reduction in spending. The Senate gets involved and says that you can’t cut spending without increasing revenue…in fact Harry Reid ran around trying to convince everyone that an increase in taxation WAS a reduction in spending!

Huh????

So the Liar –in-Chief thinks through the political ramifications and comes up with some sheer brilliance. Why not just kick the problem down the road? How can he do this…by tasking a bipartisan super committee to come up with at least $1.2 trillion dollars of savings – with the results of their recommendations to be available by end November.

Of course, he knew THAT wouldn’t work…there were two problems…
-        Nobody wanted to make the decisions as to where to cut
-        There were no incentives for the super committee to achieve any more success than Congress had done

I have to admit that Obama’s solution was brilliant. Let’s incentivize their action by stating that if they could not come to agreement, there would be automatic cuts of $1.2 trillion (over ten years) and those cuts would be from the military budget and some entitlements.
This was brilliant.

You see, the super committee did not want that job. They did not want to make those hard decisions. Neither sides of the political aisle wanted to be seen as intransigent or obstructive yet they did not want to let their constituents down.

And Obama made it possible for all to enjoy the benefits of being on the super committee with none of the downfalls of actually achieving anything.

Obama could then continue his attacks on the Republicans with terms of endearment such as obstructionists, putting the party in front of the people and so forth. He could study real hard and throw out intransigents, and millionaires and billionaires, and create class warfare without having it come back and bite him in the ass because he was disparaging the very folks he needed to pass his agenda.

Nope. He knew from day one that there would be absolutely no chance for agreement in the Super Committee…he planned for it to be that way!

So, when we hear noises coming from the super committee that they may still be able to reach an agreement, we should take that with a grain of salt. The reality is that when the super committee fails to reach agreement, the pre-ordained by Obama cuts will take effect.

A trillion dollars from defense and a couple hundred billion from entitlements.

Let me see…is it possible to cut $100 billion annually from defense? Sure it is when we pull out of Iraq….that is budgeted money that was never going to be spent anyway, but because it was spent last financial year it is budgeted to be spent this financial year as well. Cut that (code for removing troops from Middle East as already planned)…and voilla…instant savings.

The whole super committee is a joke. The whole plan to reduce spending by $120 billion a year for the next ten years is a joke. The Republicans who accept this crap are a joke.

It is time for some real spending cuts.

If the deficit budget is $1.4 trillion this year…then we should immediately cut spending by $1.4 trillion to stop debt increasing.

We can then look at further reductions and use the excess to pay down sovereign debt.

THAT would be spending cuts in my book.

Forget the super committee, forget the games of Obama and his accounting challenged advisors….forget the redistribution of wealth pleas. Just start cutting spending. Start with disbanding the Department of Energy and the Department of Education. Every person who was employed by these departments can all go onto unemployment for 3 years and the Country will still be better off. Don’t believe me…read my post that explains the economies of government jobs at http://devereauxdailydose.blogspot.com/2011/09/economy-needs-jobs.html .

I know it is not going to happen. I know that it is highly unlikely that even a conservative President will disband these wasteful organizations…for they too must rely on the receivers of their largesse for the votes to regain their office.

Until this country starts understanding that the road to prosperity lies in the difficulties of hard work, politicians will continue to give away the farm to buy votes. The only difference is in how fast the farm is broken up.

Stupid is as stupid says.

Upside down cake, anyone?

I have written many times about how the left has hijacked language, changing the meaning of words and in fact creating entirely new definitions.

Over the months, years and decades that this has been occurring, America has stumbled, slid and is now racing at break neck speed into a world where the mad hatter would be comfortable. A world where what we believe is tempered by what we are told to believe. A world where moral certitude is replaced by moral equivalency. A world where up is down and down is up.

Plunged into this world are the good….the bad…the disillusioned and the downright ugly. You see, the path to lunacy is an equal opportunity path….it cares not what color you are, it cares not about your sexual orientation, your religious beliefs, of your political affiliations.  It cares not if you attended an Ivy League school or the local community college…or no school at all.

The path to lunacy is paved with trinkets and freebies, with colors dazzling to the eye and beckoning the soul. It teases with promises of hope and change. It beckons the traveller with promises of equality, fairness and the equitable distribution of the riches that instantly materialize along the way.

The path to lunacy is broad….it welcomes misfits of all denominations. It succors the useless and the uninformed alike. It lies to the educated and the quasi-knowledgeable in the knowledge that years of educational punishment have softened the brains of those who would otherwise know better.

The path to lunacy is patient. It is does not need to rush. It knows that the basic natures of those inclined to walk it are filled with greed, laziness, hate and anger….the ingredients that lead to jealousy and the ultimate insanity of all…redistribution of wealth.

At the end of the path to insanity is the pineapple upside down cake that the world has become….

A world where it is a felony to lie to Congress, yet when Congress lies to us it is just politics as usual.

A world where if a white person dislikes a black person, he must be a racist…but if a black person dislikes a white person, it is no more than his constitutional rights.

A world where the government will spend untold millions to rehabilitate the poor unfortunate criminals, but virtually nothing to assist the victims of those same criminals.

A world where our schools teach the joys of homosexuality and lesbianism as mainstream lifestyles to be honored and supported, as long as they don’t mention God.

A world where the unborn child in its mother’s womb is at the mercy of the mother’s whim, yet mass murderers, serial killers and rapists are protected from the executioner.

A world where books are re-written because language becomes insensitive or the common meanings of words change, or people feel offended. A world where we do not need to burn books to stop the spread of ideas…just simply rewrite them.

A world where the threat of communism and its evil step-child socialism is dissipated simply be renaming them progressives.

A world where to protest against the President and his Administration’s policies labels you as a terrorist, while to burn an effigy of a previous President or desecrate the Flag makes you a patriot expressing your 1st Amendment rights.

A world where pornography is a staple of television and internet, and nativity scenes are not allowed in a Public park at Christmas (ooops…I mean holidays!)

A world where criminals are labeled as sick, and it is not their fault.

A world where parents come in the form of Ritalin and video games.
A world where the government takes from those who work hard to give to those who don’t.

The path to insanity leads to a place where America is no longer the land of opportunity but is the land of hand-outs.

The saddest part is that the path to insanity is travelled by many with well-meaning intentions…it is not just the lazy and uninformed who are seduced by its promises.

The good of heart who have spent years practicing their faith and honing their beliefs in God above, are all to eager to travel the path to insanity as it beckons with promises of a world the way it should be…a world bereft of poverty, pain and war. Promises of equality and an end to world suffering through the abolition of greed entice these believers down the path. A misguided belief that man’s nature can be changed simply by walking hand in hand along the trinket laden path will pull many believers into their own particular hell…the one that waits them at the end of the path to insanity.

But this path did not simply just appear. It has been under construction for a hundred years…each roadblock has been meticulously disassembled, each obstacle diverting it for a short distance, but only temporarily.

And now, with Obama manning the toll gates…it is a ten lane superhighway to oblivion.

Obama is working overtime to get as many supporters as possible through his toll gate and onto the highway. Using his constituents fear he guides the black man down the highway. Using his constituent’s jealousy he guides the lazy. Using his constituent’s cowardice, he sends his jackbooted union thugs to round up the stragglers.

In 12 short months he hopes to have a majority of Americans caught in the tide that will carry them down his path of insanity.

The only thing that can stop him is the conservative voice. It must be loud…it must be clear….it must define in simple language what is waiting at the end of the path to insanity.
It must rise up as one accord, proclaiming truth….proclaiming righteousness….proclaiming the need to return to moral certitudes and honor.

It must shine a light of true knowledge on the path to insanity…it must illuminate the lies, the deception and the arrogance of those who would lead you to the desolation that awaits you at the end of the path to insanity.

Speaking of insanity, I wanted to share a couple of quick thoughts on debt. As I watch the goings on in Greece and Italy it is amazing that we hear nothing about the fact that democracy has been temporarily replaced by technocracy (at least we hope it is temporary). The democratically elected leaders have stepped aside so that non-elected technocrats can lead those countries through the wilderness that is their debt and economic malaise.

Of course, should the technocrats succeed, they will soon be removed at the next general election and replaced by a new group of trinket givers, and should the technocrats fail…well, ….oblivion sounds like an appropriate word.

Which brings me to thinking about debt….sovereign debt in particular. It does not seem to me that America is all that far behind Greece and Italy in its level of debt.

When you and I are in debt, we have two choices…either we default (simply not pay, or perhaps declare bankruptcy and not pay) or we pay.

Sovereign debt has a third (and a fourth) alternative.

We can pay with inflated currency. By printing millions of dollars and flooding the world with greenbacks, the currency will be devalued and debts can be paid with inflated dollars. So, America could pay its trillion dollar debt to China easily…and along with the money send a note saying “Good luck trying to buy a loaf of bread with these dollars!”. Incidentally, this is what China fears will happen and the Administration is definitely trying to use this tactic. Of course, with the deflationary pressures caused by high unemployment and 46 million people on food stamps, the prospect of inflating our way out of this sovereign debt looks very unlikely.

And that leaves one other option.  Grow the economy. If taxes were reduced, regulations eased and the entrepreneurial spirit encouraged rather than discouraged, the economy would grow and grow quickly. By relying on the deflationary pressures currently existing in the economy, interest rates could slowly be increased which would support the dollar’s value against other currencies. Investment would flow into this country from overseas and would ignite a growth spurt not seen in decades.

But here’s the problem.

Obama is so invested in his superhighway to insanity that he cannot institute the policies that would grow the economy and relieve the debt problem. He is so invested in the policies that created this situation that he cannot and will not swallow his pride, pack up his arrogance in an old kit bag, and turn the tide.

If America wants to get out of her economic malaise, she has one simple option. At the ballot box in 2012 she must remove this Moron-in-Chief from office. If we do not achieve that success I see America rapidly conflagrating like Greece. The only difference I see is that Obama will not step aside and allow the technocrats to do their thing….his arrogance will not allow that. This narcissistic fool believes he can solve the problems…if only Congress will do what he wants.

Let me warn you in no uncertain terms. If the Moron-in-Chief should win in 2012, he will find a way to make Congress totally toothless. He will free himself of the shackles that Congress represents and will advance this country through a tyranny closely akin to dictatorship.

Chaos. Oblivion. Insanity.

I think I will have a slice of that pineapple upside down cake while the going is good….who knows when I would get another chance?
