Four more years…four more years…four more years….
The mantra that is starting to be heard from the left….perhaps just a whisper today, but it will grow in volume until it is an incessant screaming not unlike the wails of a banshee as she comes to devour you.
Four more years….
Many conservatives have asked the question, can we afford four more years with Obama leading us down the path of destruction?
Those of you who have read my posts know that I have no love for the Liar-in-Chief. Just as a reminder, let me point out some of the things I abhor about this pretender…
- He lies consistently
- He lies persuasively
- He lies
For many people, that would be enough, but there is more….
- He divides the country while claiming to be the great uniter
- He devises policies designed to entrap the poor in a addiction to government freebies while claiming to be the savior of the poor
- He takes money from the rich while telling the world that they must pay their fair share
- He claims to support the middle classes while destroying the very jobs that support that class
- He keeps minorities disadvantaged while claiming to support their cause
- He limits religious freedom while proclaiming freedom of choice
- He corrupts the political process while blaming the republicans for their intransigence
- He supports America’s enemies while weakening her friends
- He picks the wrong side on international conflicts
The list can go on until I run out of paper….but the fact remains that this President is a failure…
- He is a failure by the very measures he himself declared he should be measured by
- He is a failure as a leader
- He is a failure as a motivator
The only thing this community organizer can do well….is campaign…and that is what he has been doing for 3 years while the economy tanks.
And he lies.
So, it is fair to say that I am not a fan of this Idiot Pretender that occupies the White House.
So, it will probably come as a shock when I look at the future of this country….when I look at it’s debt load…when I look at the spending expected in the future…and day that much of this cannot be fixed by Obama. Of course, I will say the same thing about the incoming President if Obama is defeated in November.
The problems facing this country on a financial basis are not the making of the current Liar-in-Chief. They are not Bush’s fault either. They cannot be fixed by a President, regardless of whether that President is the lazy-assed pretender currently using the Oval office as his personal “man cave” where he escapes to watch ESPN, or a new incoming President whether it be Romney or Gingrich or somebody else.
You see, the financial problems facing this country are so large that timnkering around the edges with budget cuts will do nothing but make everybody feel good while the juggernaut rushes over them, crushing the very life from their souls.
Entitlemets…that is the name of the juggernaut that has swept away previous Presidents and will sweep away new ones. Under the banner of entitlements you can include:-
- Social Security
- Medicare
- Welfare
- Food stamps
- Section 8 housing
- Government guaranteed loans
- Government incentives
- Unemployment
- The new Obamacare
- Making Homes Affordable
- And many MANY others
Now, many of you will take issue with that list, saying that Social Security is something we have paid for. Really? It is true that the Government has taken money from your paychecks to support Social Security; however the truth is there is no relationship between what you contributed and what you will receive. In a private system, you will receive a pension based on the amount you contributed and the returns achieved on the investment…not based on your income at the time of qualifying. Social Security is simply an entitlement that the Government has sold to you as a retirement fund.
What about unemployment? Every pay period you pay for it, right? Well…that is a fair argument…and if it was some real form of insurance as you claim, there would be defined benefits based on the terms of the policy you purchased. The way unemployment works is it is based on the % of your income up to a limit that the government has decided is ALL you need. The Government also determines how long you can collect it. And that can change without notice. With the government being able to determine and change the terms at will, this is not insurance – it is an entitlement.
Anyway, entitlemets are the 800 pound gorilla that has a real problem with weight control. Entitlements have never seen a diet that they would try….in fact, the entitlement monster is ravenous…and with nothing else changing simply continues to grow every year. Next year, the entitlement gorilla will the 1000 pound gorilla stalking the financial health of this country and the year after a 1300 pound gorilla crushing the breath out of the dollar.
And no president can do a damn thing about it…..at least not by himself!
A President will to fight that particular gorilla is going to need the support of the people and the strength and support of a fully committed congress willing to risk the wrath of the addicted and make wholesale changes to entitlements.
That will not be easy.
As I listen to the Republican candidates wishing to win the nomination for Presidential candidate, I find it quite disturbing that none of them has really devoted any messaging to the entitlement juggernaut …and I understand the hesitancy….after all, the addicted are not restricted to liberals and progressives….many republican voters are also addicted to government handouts, and to tackle this problem before winning the Presidency would be political suicide.
I did see a glimmer of hope yesterday when Gingrich stated very clearly that in order to achieve what he wants to achieve in the first 100 days, Congress would need to be controlled by Republicans with a similar commitment to get the country back on track.
I suspect the other nominees believe this as well…but they have been reluctant to state it as openly as Gingrich did.
So…here is the dilemma facing this country.
We have huge financial pressures that will grow quickly regardless of who is President.
We have candidates that are not outspoken about the juggernaut, and it is hard to know whether they even see it coming.
We have peals of “four more years” gaining strength on the back of politically motivated nonsense such as …..
“We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by, or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, and everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules.”
…..Obama, State of the Campaign (Union) Speech, January 2012
I have to tell you that four more years where everybody gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules”…as defined by the Obama administration, will result in 4 more years of racism, division, class warfare and demands from the addicted.
Can we afford four more years?
NO, we can’t.
I watched the Jim Carey film, “Yes Man” recently, and one scene really grabbed me with it’s simplicity and accuracy….and appropriateness when looking at four more years….
“Allison: [riding on a motor scooter] Am I going too fast for you?
Carl Allen: Nah. In fact, I think you should go faster. That way if we crash, at least I'll die. I just don't wanna be kept alive artificially.”
If Obama should, by some mistake of fortune, win four more years, of one thing I can be certain.
His efforts to fundamentally change this country will increase in both time and impact. He will be running as fast and as far as he can to get through those fundamental changes ….he has no need to be careful as his term limit is up.
If this happens, I will be like Carl Allen….calling for him to speed up even more, to run even faster, to effect even greater change….because then, when we hit the wall that we will ultimately hit, we will at least die as a country….for I have no desire for myself or this country to be kept on life support, living artificially in a country where freedom has long since been destroyed.
