Three card monty and the Mona Lisa.

We can call it the shell game...or three card monty...it doesn't really matter because the results are exactly the same. In both of these street scams, the scammer palms the winning card or the pea, while the gambler bets on what isn't even there.

Of course, if nobody ever wins, no gambler would ever play...so the scammer uses a plant or several plants in the crowd of onlookers who can generate excitement by winning a few times. The happy faces and big wins are used to lure the unsuspecting into wanting to believe they can beat the odds.

Of course, nobody ever does. The game is crooked, and relies solely on the greed of the players who are enticed by the thought of free money, of beating the system.

So now, we have President Liar talking up a storm about how he will announce a new and better recovery plan. He is planning a speech for after he returns from vacation when all will be revealed. He is using the jobs tour as the launching point for his new ideas...and is luring the unsuspecting into his shell game.

He is setting the scene…..preparing his clown posse as useful idiots to assist his cause and to suck the suckers into his game.

In order to understand this better I am turning to the words of John Milton….not the John Milton of 17th Century poetry fame…but the John Milton played so well by Al Pacino in the remarkable movie, The Devil’s Advocate. (If you have not seen this movie, you will find it strangely rewarding and uncomfortable at the same time, challenging your sensibilities while rewarding your belief in human nature.)

“That's our secret. Kill you with kindness.”

….John Milton, The Devil’s Advocate, 1997

There is no mistaking the meaning in the above quote. People become addicted to stuff. Addiction will eventually kill you.

Obama and his clown posse know this all too well…but they do not care, because from their position high in the stratosphere of the Capitol and the White House, they see themselves as the Gods from whom all good things come. They give away freebies, they provide comfort, and succor the needy and the not so needy….they maintain their positions of power by continually increasing the freebies they provide. The appetite from the addicted for more benefits, more rights, more free stuff is insatiable…and the God’s sit on their thrones laughing at the stupidity of the people, the incredible naivety of a people so addicted to free stuff that they don’t see the devastation hurtling toward them.

The people see the freebies as government kindness…..and that kindness will kill them.

And now Obama is talking about increasing the size of future spending cuts so that he can increase the size of the giveaways today. That’s his secret to winning the next election. Kill them with kindness!

So, how did America get to this place where the evils of kindness went un-noticed? Where the subrogation of freedoms became the norm, where the flight away from honesty and morality became seen as the flight toward freedom, and not seen as the freedom destroying technique it really is?

The answer is simple.

Lawyers.

Whether it be lawyers who have moved into politics, or lawyers who’s career have moved them into judicial positions or lawyers who see their role as the defenders of human rights, they are all to blame for finding ways to justify the government largesse that has led to where we are today.

“Law is the ultimate backstage pass. There are now more students in law schools than lawyers walking the streets.”

….John Milton, The Devil’s Advocate, 1997

Does this bode well for the future of this country?

Now, I am not against practitioners of the law who see their roles as finding the truth. What is unfortunate is that the truth no longer has any place in the law. The law no longer seeks truth, it seeks fairness…and those two principals do not necessarily align well. If truth was the domain of the law, we would need far fewer lawyers. The lawyers task today is to spin the truth, to deny the truth, to ridicule the truth.

Congress is full of lawyers. The White House is filled with lawyers. The President is supposedly a lawyer (and if he really is, he has sacrificed his knowledge of the Constitution on his own altar of empire.)

This fool we have as President may not be so foolish….he clearly understands how the world works in the current age….

“You sharpen the human appetite to the point where it can split atoms with its desire; you build egos the size of cathedrals; fiber-optically connect the world to every eager impulse; grease even the dullest dreams with these dollar-green, gold-plated fantasies, until every human becomes an aspiring emperor, becomes his own God... and where can you go from there? “

….John Milton,The Devil’s Advocate, 1997

Obama has created an insatiable desire. He has succeeded at least partially in fundamentally transforming America. He has created mini Kings and Queens who stalk the halls of Congress, playing their games of power and manipulation, finding ways to buy votes and give the people more and more.

He has created dollar-green dreams and gold–plated fantasies in the minds of his unthinking, devoted followers. And as his followers see themselves as the future of this country, as mini-emperors, he see himself as the God that created them. Where does he go from here? He has no choice but to give away more stuff. The addicted demand it from their God….

What the addicted do not see is that there is no way out from here.

To continue providing free stuff, one of two things must happen:-

1. print more money….ultimately this will cause high inflation and most likely hyper inflation. But the addiction must be fed in larger and larger quantities else the people will revolt against their God, rioting in the streets, burning buildings, stealing what they want. The addiction cannot be assuaged by words of warning…only by more stuff.

Do you really think the Greek riots were about economic fears? Nope…they were the addicted demanding more!

2. Tax increases…he can tax the wealthy, the middle class and eventually the poor…but this will never be sufficient to feed the addicted. Their demand for more is endless. Atlas WILL shrug. The rich WILL leave, the middle classes WILL disappear and the poor WILL demand more. The addicted will demand their freebies…and when they don’t get what they want…they will riot, taking what they believe they deserve.

Greece?

So…when the God’s sit in their rarified air, atop the Capitol, their thrones bought and paid for by the giveaways to the addicted, they will eventually topple under the strains of their own beliefs and the failures of their own ideologies.

They will leave behind them a wasteland of addicted people who have no idea what to do.

Do not be one of the addicted. Do not be fooled by this prince of lies….

In September we will see yet another speech…yet another shell game being played out in the streets of DC. Any one of us could write that speech today….or at least the outline…here is what the Idiot-in-Chief will say…..

1. We have some tough decisions to make
2. We did not want to be here but….Bush, tsunamis, Arab uprisings, tornados, terrorism, missing children, my Aunt Flo and a thousand other things have happened that brought us here
3. We are facing a Congress that refuses to work together because the Republicans are unreasonable and would rather see the country suffer than see it fixed
4. I have a plan
5. It is the same plan as I have always had, just tweaked for the current voters
6. we will spend more, buy more jobs, get you all working now
7. we will pay for it by budgeting cuts starting in several years after the next election, with most of the cuts coming after my term limit is up
8. we will make moderate changes to fix SS, Medicare and Medicaid but no real change will happen
9. We will make sure nobody suffers
10. God bless me and what I can do for you!

How did we get to this point?

I think John Milton summed it up well this way….

“I'm the hand up Mona Lisa's skirt. I'm a surprise, Kevin. They don't see me coming: that's what you're missing. “

….John Milton, The Devil’s Advocate, 1997

Don’t be surprised. Many people have told you and shown you what is coming.
