You cannot mention God at a funeral...go figure!

I hope and trust that you all enjoyed the celebrations of the birth of freedom in America that took place all over this country yesterday.

Not for the first time, my 4th July celebrations were more of a historical reference than an exclamation of the freedoms we enjoy today.  Unfortunately Americans today do not know the freedoms that were fought for at such great cost. We live under the tyranny of government, and the tyranny of debt.

Nevertheless, we still have an opportunity to make a difference. To take a stand, to declare "no more!"

A small group of several hundred folks in Houston did this yesterday. They gathered in Houston National Cemetery to take a stand against stupidity. Bikers stood shoulder to shoulder with veterans and tea party folks, holding bibles in the air and saying "God Bless yous" and praying.

While this may seem like a very odd way to combat stupidity, there is a reason for it being this way.

Houston National Cemetery director Arleen Ocasio has banned invoking the names of "God" or "Jesus" at burials, and forbidding the recitation of religious messages unless the deceased's family submits the text to her for approval.

What?

Yep. According to Arleen Ocasio it is not permissible to mention God or Jesus at a funeral in Houston National Cemetery because it is a federal property and such invocations are not acceptable due to the separation of church and state!!

This is an outrage. And that stupid Ocasio should be removed immediately as Director of the Cemetery. BUt even though that is what SHOULD happen, it is not likely to happen at all.

It will be up to the God fearing people of Houston to show that they will not accept this trampling of their rights to freedom of religion.

What astounds me is that this happened in Texas. If it was in New York, California or some other liberal infested state, it would not surprise me...but Texas?

What does not surprise me is that the people of Houston are fighting this monstrosity.

Let me get this right.

I am a soldier who has fought and died for the right of people to be free to worship whoever or whatever they want, or not to worship at all. And yet, when I am buried in a National Cemetery, my Christian beliefs, my faith, cannot be honored? And yet, when a terrorist like Bin Laden is buried at sea from a US ship, all deference to Muslim faith is ensured?

Something stinks here...and I think it starts with Ocasio!!

Now this gets more interesting. As far as I can tell from the reports of the protest there were a number of politicians present who were also demonstrating this situation. The following were present:-

U.S. Rep. Pete Olson, R-Sugar Land
U.S. Rep. Ted Poe, R-Humble
State Rep. Allen Fletcher, R-Tomball
State Rep. Debbie Riddle, R-Tomball

I wish to thank these State and Federal Representatives for taking a part of their 4th July celebrations and fighting for freedom this way. It is uplifting to know that politicians of all flavors can come together in support of something that is clearly not partisan in nature.....whats that?

Not a single democrat among them?

Hmmm...why am I not surprised by this? I should have known better than to expect any liberal progressive democrat to be seen anywhere near something that supports and promotes the use of the words God or Jesus. They would not be seen dead there!! Pun intended.

You see, we have all come to learn by now that progressives have no problem telling us what is or is not acceptable behavior. No problem telling us what we can and can't eat. No problem telling us what we should and should not believe.

But when it comes to standing before us and defending their actions, they run like the cowards they are.

'Nuff said!

Stupid is as stupid says.
